Forcing FA signings?
So....
I want to force a free agent signing to happen. Yes, I can edit the player and directly assign them to the team. But, when you do this, the transaction log and player history isn't updated (it isn't considered a signing). Nor is it included in the GMs transaction history. You can force trades. You can force player promotions/demotions and releases. Is there a way to force FA signings? |

Can’t you just manually add an entry in the player history?

you can edit the history of the player - but it wouldn't solve the GM history
if you really, really, really wanted to - you could take control of every team (or at least every team that could afford him) offer an insulting low ball contract that would piss him off and then offer the contract you want to force. that would probably do the trick. is that a solution, no - but it is a work around. albeit one that takes a bit of work

I’ve asked for this years ago. There doesn’t seem to be interest to put it in.
Controlling all teams may work but you have to also account for any other leagues. Would be a nice addition though |

Yep. I have control of all teams ... every team has a human manager that acts as GM. It is a pain when signing players, as I have to switch to that human manager in order to offer a contract.
In the first season of running the league, all offers were accepted, regardless of player demand. But now, in the second season, no free agent will sign unless their demands are met .... demands which don't align with my control of the league finances. I'm playing a historical league that, while fictional, I want specific outcomes to occur (such as teams struggling to make a profit and going bankrupt), etc. In short, what I want OOTP have is a "god" mode -- Commissioner mode is sort of it, but not entirely. The AI still has a number of things in which you cannot control its decisions. Player negotiations are one of them. |
