I have only played a few Go! games all the way through and simmed 25 years or so of a fictional league, but have some initial reactions.

The depth of the game is impressive; obviously, so much more here than with MLBM (but then this is what you would expect since it is the same engine as OOTP desktop). But the level of detail wrt features, options and the like seems mostly devoted to franchise and league-level play ... including the creation of alternate baseball universes (although the mods you can use with the desktop game, and the often wonderful rabbit holes you can end up going down -- thinking of uniform design in particular! -- nevertheless make the alternate universes in Go! less customizable).

Yet I very much like to play individual games (even in replays, trying to keep up the pace in terms of that particular MLB season, day to day) and here is where my biggest disappointment lies (maybe really my only significant disappointment): No pitch-by-pitch mode! I remember well how thrilled I was when Pursue the Pennant came out with the first serious (and realistic) pitch-level sim, after some three decades of batter-level board and computer games (yes, the designers of Earl Weaver, God bless them, put this in their game, but it was not clear how realistic it was in terms of being based on real life data). And this having pitch-by-pitch is what made me eventually devote more time to OOTP than PTP/Diamond Mind even for season replays (of course, the universe-creation opportunities in OOTP made it my choice from the start for everything but single season replays).

And then the fact that iOOTP/MLBM had a pitch-by-pitch mode option was what made the mobile game so much fun for me: I could create a fictional baseball universe, play the deadball-style game if I wanted, do pitch-by-pitch management of my own team's games AND do all this right on my iPhone as I rode on the BART Plainly, if I had one ask for you, it would be to please please please add pitch-by-pitch.

A bit more on customizing Go! ... As I said, you can certainly do a lot here but it would be great to have some detailed guidance on it all. But I assume eventually there will be a manual -- honestly, I have spent a lot of hours over the years pouring over the OOTP manual(s), and have always found it extremely helpful in navigating through what can feel like a maze at times.

There has been feedback from some folks on being able to save a game and then return to it later. I have to concur, especially as I like to play individual games and when you realize you have to break way for some real life stuff but have not yet finished the game you are in, it can be frustrating. If you prefer to do sims of seasons, this will not really be a problem, but again, some of us like to play through entire games ... and do it pitch by pitch -- so....

But enough of this -- all in all, OOTP Go! has been really fantastic for me so far; I am already devoting too many hours of my day and night (or so my wife ever so gently informs me) to playing it. Well done!
Save+Exit and Pitch by Pitch were both added this week in updates

Why? It’s a lame rule; like Little League. One of the joys of OOTP for me is to deactivate it, as well as the stupid three-batter minimum for relievers. And no seven-inning doubleheader games for me. What I wish is that OOTP could offer the option of losing the DH once the SP is removed from the game. Maybe next year?

It is truly amazing how receptive the development team is to feedback. I think the game is just about perfect now. I love being able to toggle back and forth between single pitch and pitch by pitch. I prefer pitch by pitch, but sometimes it gets really tedious in a blowout, and I don't simply want to sim the game, because of how the bolt pen is handled

Will we have the ability to link our GO account to our profile here? Asking specifically because of the Twitch Drops program, but it would be nice to have my PT 22 data show up even though I only play on mobile right now.

I’d like to have a way to play the same league on two devices, for example iPhone and iPad.

As long as you are linking your OOTP Challenge Mode/Perfect Team account to the Twitch Drops, it doesn't matter whether you run GO or not, you'll get the drops.

Excited it is finally for iOS. Would love some version of a commish mode or ability to force trades.

If your device has 2GB of RAM or more then it shouldn't crash. If you do have more than 2GB, can you please post the details of the crash into the bug report forum, and I'll be able to take a look

Lineups management

Anyone else having issues, where the AI keeps changing my lineup order? Even when I made sure that the lineup management is user controlled.

Yes, i think if we can at least force trades it would appease most of us that are used to playing in commissioner mode.

Really digging OOTP Go. Can't believe this level of detail on mobile.

Only a few minor things, feature requests.
  • Minor Leagues are disabled for historical leagues, is there a limit to how many players can fit on the Reserve Roster? I'm a prospect hog.
  • Shop around players was a great addition, but one player at a time is restrictive, and makes it harder to build complex trades, can we add one?
  • Would help if there was an autosave feature after a certain number of games. Exit to main screen saves make this more of a "nice to have" than a need.

And anyone having issues with the batting order being changed by the AI, even when I select that user is responsible for lineup management.

Lightbulb Move Continue Button

I play an s-ton of mlb manager and now Go. I love it. At least an hour a day.

For my sake can we please move the continue button away from the bottom right? When you have the iPad on your chest/stomach it’s really uncomfortable to press and that’s the button you hit most. Next pitch/continue/swing away…etc.

For my sake, just give me a switchable option please.

Having played this for a few weeks now, it really is an amazing accomplishment to get virtually the whole desktop game into a mobile platform. I’m loving it.

The few things that I am missing from the desktop version are:
- Retaining salary in trades. This was such a huge, realistic add-in to the desktop version a few years back. This would be a big one. Any hope that it is going to be added in the near future?
- A nice to have is some additional reports, even a subset of what is available in the desktop game. For instance, I loved the player stats report that showed your stats for even inactive or traded players throughout the season, rather than just the active roster. It was a good way for me to evaluate a more detailed view of my whole team’s performance. Also, some additional league-level reports that could help with further evaluation. I can’t think of any specifics offhand.

Anyway, that’s it. Great stuff!

There are some of the additional reports, but it's not obvious how to get to them. Go to a box score for your team, then tap on the team logo and it will bring up a menu of reports.

Ugh, except the latest update has made it so every time I save and quit, it restarts me in the 0 inning.

Player stats are correct, so wherever I leave off, you have to add 10 innings to it. Really a mess when you are already into the pen, in the 7th inning, only to discover, you have 10 more innings to pkay
