Make My Decision For Me: Should I Implement a Draft Lottery?

By using an online draft lottery generator, weighted by record, of the non-playoff teams, probably just for the first round.

I've been weighing this in my mind for a bit and it seems like it could add an interesting element to my game. I don't think the AI can tank quite like I can with my human will power, so it seems cheap for me to push myself up a couple of spots in the draft via "playing the kids". But by sucking you are increasing your odds of a higher pick, but with it not being a sure thing I can play out my games with more integrity. And though my team often sucks, I'm never "worst in the league" bad, so it would be cool to get the chance at the #1 pick every now and then.

Thoughts? Anyone else tried this for solo leagues?

Thumbs up

Sounds like you have already made up your mind. It's your league play however gives you the most satisfaction.

Geez, only 2 votes? Come on people, help a guy out.

I said traditional just because I hate having a good time.

I've never been a big fan of draft lotteries, but it sounds like you want to add one.

Doesn't the game have a random function? Just click that and move the playoff teams to the end of the draft order. At one time the game had a random function but I haven't looked for it in the last few versions. Seems it would be much quicker unless you just want to do a weighted lottery.

I vote for you to let the OOTP determine your draft order after every season

The only reason to implement a Draft Lottery is to deter tanking for the #1 pick.

Several things.
First, this isn't hockey, basketball or football where players come in top level ready.
Second, you're moving the needle where tanking begins to ALL teams tanking, which is no different than a team going from 6th to 5th place. Here's what I mean. Say bottom 5 teams can get lottery chances for the #1 pick. The teams you have to watch tanking are the 5th and 6th place team.

Last. The team that could use the #1 pick the most is probably the worst team in the league. Giving a team in the middle the top pick is a kick in the onions.

But hey, you asked for opin's....this was mine.
It's your league, do as you please.

OOTP is a game (yeah, yeah, I know, Captain Obvious.)
Point is- if this sounds fun to you then you should absolutely do it.

Try it a few seasons. If/when you become dissatisfied with it then just go back to default. Lots of rules in MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, etc go into a trial period before being kept or being scrapped.
