Has your league contracted?
A league I am part commissioner in has decided to contract several teams in the name of getting more parity and better competition. The problem is, that after this is done we must re-align the teams.
Has anyone done this before in an online or solo league and does this present any issues? I thought I remember seeing somewhere that if you re-align an established league that some problems may develop, especially if one of the re-aligned teams must jump across league lines, you know, Milwaukee style. Any comments would be appreciated. |

I cant confirm anything regarding the jumping from league to league, but most leagues have relocation options.. i.e.... in the AOBL, we had TB move to Vegas, which obviously, they didnt need to stay in the AL East anymore.. So they were moved from the East to the West... The only problems I incured was the team ID numbers were hectic for a few of the teams, and I had to do a complete overhaul on my website to have everything line up to the correct teams.. After that was situated, I saw no other issues.. As far as contraction, I dont think this will be any different than expansion re-alignment... I havent seen any other posts regarding problems that weren't correctable though

Thanks for your input.
So team ID numbers will need to be refigured for proper scheduling and things of that nature? Something else I thought of was that when will I have to perform all of this, i.e. before or after the proceed to next season. I guess my concern draws from the same team scheduling problems. |

The schedule doesnt come out until after the preseason is complete... So I would do iy right after proceeding to the Offseason... before running the coaches/scouts (if you use them), and before the FA period... I believe what will happen is once your delete the teams, it will ask you if you want them in the players on those teams to go into the FA pool... After that is donte, then re-align the divisions, and go from there... The main things you will have to consider is the team logos, if you use them on the website, and the team pages if you link to those on your website...
I dont think scheduling should be a problem, but if it is, i suggest using the schedule generator... I have it on my download site... just click on the AOBL link in my sig, and when you get to the site, just go to the AOBL downloads link in the menu bar on the top, and it is in the utillities..

yes, are there any issues to relocating teams to the other league? I'd like to know this as well.

There are no issues moving teams from league to league.
The only place where you may have issues is with team histories. If the teams you keep have their in game team # changed, be sure and check the histories right away. What may happen is you'll get the history of the previous team from that # going to the new team. |

If you follow the steps in the FAQ on expansion with the timing of moving teams, then the team histories should be fine. However, if your timing isn't right, then the team histories won't transfer to the proper team correctly. I can't remember off the top of my head whether it's before or after the Proceed button is pressed. You'll also have issues with team abbreviations getting messed up if you time it wrong.

IOSBL contracted from 32 to 30 teams. We didn't move any teams to different divisions, but if you use BOSI, be prepared to do some manual adjusting of team ID #s. Otherwise we haven't had any problems.
