Slider suggestion: Plate approach
I love having both team and individual sliders in order to customize strategy to take advantage of the strengths and weaknesses of your team and the opponent. One addition that I think would be extremely useful would be "plate approach". Do you want your guys aggressively swinging at anything that's hittable, or do you want them to be patient and more selective at what they swing at?
Increasing patience at the plate might result in hitters striking out looking more often, but the benefit would be increasing the pitch count of the opposition, and taking more walks. I know that in real life, I'd be instructing my team to take more pitches and work deep counts if the opposing pitcher has poor control or low stamina, or if their bullpen is overworked. It would be nice to be able to use the same strategy here.

I want to like this idea but without knowing the equations and code and how delicate the whole statistical balance of the game is... it feels this could potentially cause more issues than it's worth.

Yeah, obviously it would need to be implemented cautiously, but that's the case with all sliders. If it can't be done without causing significant problems, then fair enough, but if it CAN be done, it would be a great counter to bronze tournament rotations filled with 29 stamina Satchel Paiges and Bill Bonhams, or five man bullpens in order to increase hitting platoon options.

I think the main problem is that there is already a rating to do that (eye) because it's a skill that some players have...not everyone can just "be patient". If they could they would have a good eye rating.

In general though, counters to counters get into sort of an infinite loop of balance issues. Right now control counters eye rating, stuff counters contact, movement counters power, etc. Adding another layer to that could just lead to stuff getting out of whack with really minor adjustments or making some of the "load up on stat X" issues of last year even worse. |

I like the idea. Its no different than base stealing or hold runner strategy and we have both those ratings.
