Patch: 21.5.54 Issues/problems


I downloaded and ran the latest patch: 21.5.54


It has eliminated most of my data in the Scores screen/feature that depicted the day’s scheduled games, including:

  • Teams playing one another
  • Scheduled pitchers
  • And every other relevant data point that it previously had

It also so has corrupted uniforms and eliminated the previously identified manager.

PLEASE ADVISE ASAP!!!!

This sounds like a corrupted save file.

It's very unlikely this has anything to do with the patch specifically.

What can happen is that sometimes a new update will trigger an anti-virus to scan your OOTP data files and that will corrupt your saved game files if the anti-virus returns a false positive.

For anti-virus, anti-malware, disk cleaner programs etc. it's a good idea to add OOTP to their whitelist and exclude OOTP and its data folders from any disk cleaners or similar programs. This is a pretty important step, as it's probably where 95% of the issues with league corruption come from. Basically, any programs that can change or delete files on their own, without asking you about it, you'll want to have them steer clear of any OOTP files and folders.

You may be able to restore from the autosave function. Instructions on doing that follow:

To restore from the automatic backup, do the following:

1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings

2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting".

3) Click "Open folder containing saved games".

4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore.

5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them

6) Open the folder called "auto-save".

7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder.

8) Now start the game and load your league.

New Patch Eliminated Custom League Data

All of my saved data from my custom league was deleted or eliminated or does not appear in my league standings, schedule, statistics, in the score section where today's games are listed, etc.



I have spend numerous hours creating this custom league and more often than not a new patch knocks it all out. Why?

Lost all league data after installing new patch

This is a recurring problem with patches. Why?



I realize there are so many variations you must have to address but I downloaded my game from your site and expect that there would be minimal issues with performance and patching.

Saved Games Folder

I saw your reply and thank you. The saved folder would not open nor would any saved files.

When you say the saved games folder won't open, what do you mean exactly?

What happens when you try to to open it?

The "Open folder containing saved games" will not open. I click it on and nothing happens. It does not function.

Can you try restarting your computer and try again?

If it still doesn't work, try to open the folder manually. What OS are you using?

Are you part of technical support?

I have windows 10.

Same problem after re-booting.

I submitted a ticket last week and still have not heard from technical support. This is extremely disappointing although from the posts here it is clear numerous users are experiencing problems from the latest patch which by all accounts seems botched.

I had to buy baseball mogul to play over the weekend. Their patches always work fine but the game play is not nearly as sophisticated as OOTP; however, I prefer playing with a game that works. I am a loyal customer for several years now. This is likely to change.

No I'm not part of the technical support team, I'm part of the development team.

I checked with with the support team and asked them to prioritize your ticket.

Again though, as I already mentioned, this is very unlikely to have anything to do with the patch.

This is the result of corrupted files, which can come from multiple different sources, but the patch is not one of them.

Beyond that, there are a few things that can cause corruption. This potentially includes unexpected system shutdowns or crashes especially while a league is saving, bad sectors on the hard drive the game is saved to, memory glitches on your computer (especially possible if the league is left open for very long periods of time without the game being shut down or restarted) or occasionally interference from other programs.

For programs that need to be running at the same time, like an anti-virus or firewall, it's a good idea to add OOTP to their whitelist and exclude OOTP and its data folders from any disk cleaners or similar programs. This is a pretty important step, as it's probably where 95% of the issues with league corruption come from.

Basically, any programs that can in any way change or delete files on their own, without asking you about it, you'll want to have them steer clear of any OOTP files and folders. That should prevent this from happening again.

I made a separate post and submitted a ticket, but here is my issue. Can't see any rating at all. When I open player card this is what I get. All I see is overall rating, everything else is grayed out. In addition when I hover the pointer over a player on the roster the window that pops up showing ratings doesn't come up. Makes the game unplayable. Been like this for 3 days. I wrote on the OOTP forum, no help, also wrote OOTP on Twitter. Looked through settings and couldn't find anything. Tried uninstall and reinstall, no dice. any suggestion?

There are a couple possibilities here.

It may be that the rating bars were disabled (though usually you still see the ratings themselves in this case, so I'm not sure if this is it or not), or there may've been an issue with the installation of the patch and it didn't get fully installed..

Check your settings to see if ratings got disabled, and if so re-enable them.

If they did not, then you'll need to re-install the data to restore the images.

From the start screen, hit the settings button, then on the troubleshooting tab, there's a button to "force reinstall game data". Or if you're on Steam, then you would just right click on the game in the Steam client and go to settings > verify local files.

The only thing I see regarding rating is settings is Player Rating Bars- I tried changing from numbers only to display bars and that didn't fix anything. I don't see anyplace to disable ratings all together, perhaps I am looking in the wrong place? FYI I play Perfect Team exclusively, if that helps.

Tried verifying through steam and that didn't correct it.

One other thing, it seems the background has changed at the same time to be black. could it be something with a skin?

So I found the player ratings scale. Changed it to 1-100 so now I can see numbers. The bars are still grayed out and the pop up isn't working, but it is progress.

Yeah, that's actually the next thing I would suggest. Close the game and try deleting your skins folder in the OOTP data directory. The game should reload those and if there were some errors there, it should fix it.
