Rowan Wick cant learn catcher position?

I was wondering why Rowan Wick never seems to learn the catcher position?

I know you may be asking why the heck that matters, but I have a team where I only allow Canadian players and so far there's only 1-catcher availible (Jay Clarke) and I wish I could make Wick into a two-way player as a semi-decent back up.

Wick has 50 catcher ability and 60 catcher arm. He did play 37 games in the minors at catcher.

Is there a reason he cant learn the skill at all? I can force him to play there, before I managed to get Clarke I started him there for a load of games. I even had Abraham Toro as his back up (26 catcher ability / 58 catcher arm) and he eventually got to at least a 9-position rating there and is now technically my back up.

((PS please add Russell Martin or George Gibson so Canada can field a proper team with a backup catcher. Only other two notable Canadian catchers that have a chance at being added to PT))

He probably falls short of the hitting ability criteria to be a two-way player.

I know no one else cares, but they obviously made a change recentley because Rowan Wick finally began to learn the catching position and can be used as a two way player. I never read about them making a change to what "allows" this, but I'm thankful!

You could also slot him in at catcher, but he'd never actually learn the position. Now you can slot him in at C, 1B, and all OF. Assuming he'll learn them all which is useful to make a super utility player for stupid all-Canadian teams or even some of the tournaments.
