Can You Run a Test League in OOTP?
Is it possible to run a test league to set the stats output?
Can I use the league I have just set up? Can I sim a year? And then, reset the league stats back to the first day of that season, make adjustments to the league modifiers and run another test league and keep doing this until I have perfected the league stats? I have set up a custom league, but would like to refine the stats output to make be similar to recreational league baseball where there are more errors, pass balls and stolen bases than in pro baseball. I have set the modifiers in the past, but it is a tedious process of trial-and-error. I would be great if I can just do a test league... then delete the stats for the test season and get them back to zero as at the start of a season. Can I do this? I have spent a lot of time creating this custom league... I don't want to mess it up and have to start all over again. Would appreciate your help. |

How do you create a template?
Can you do it the first day of the season? Or can that only be done in the preseason? So if I can create a template of my league, I can change the template and run a test league and it will not affect the custom league I created? Each test season, I would just use the original template. Thank you for your help. |

It would be nice if I could just reset the league stats back to opening day after I do a test season.
Is this possible? |

You should be able to do this with the Simulation Module, right?
I think the process should be
You may need to be in commissioner mode. |

I also do it anytime i expand a league to have files before the expansion and before the draft in case i set a wrong thing up i can go back and restart that process, but with all the teams, logo's and stadiums already saved. For it being a critical test league for you my suggestion would be to keep the initial file and not sim forward, but to start the quickstart and use those league files as your test leagues to come back to the main file when you are comfortable. |

I have done this 100 times using this method
backup league I want to test restore from backup - use orginalleaguename_TestX as the leaguename sim 1 year, 5 years, 100 years... never had an issue also worth noting I am an obsessive backup guy and have a backup for every month or so of leagues I care about on a NAS - no matter how bad I screw something up I can almost always get back to a previous backed up point in a league

Do I click on "start backup"? Or "Copy all files"? Which one produces the best backup? Sorry to be so dense... not good with computers at all. Is this the proper procedure: 1. backup my current league. 2. use my current league to make test runs. 3. after setting my league modifiers in test runs. 4. then use my "restore backup" to replace my test league. In the "restore backup" do I need to change the league modifiers in the original backup league to the new league modifiers that I got during the test leagues? Just throwing this out there, but you could just make a copy of your current league and then run the test on the copy without ever having to touch your current league.
I can't fathom how many files are in your league's directories though EC. I've never come close to playing a league as long as you have
