Clubhouse in complete disarray
By pot luck, I have two captains and a few leader types on my active roster.
Also, I have no outspoken or disruptive players. I’ve had winning records 3 of the last 4 seasons with the bulk of my roster stable. Still, I seem to have a lot clubhouse issues. Is this just bad luck or a game issue?

Is your record bad right now? That's usually when clubhouse problems occur.

I'm dealing with the same thing right now. Went out of my way to get rid of any disruptive players before the season started. Right now I have 2 captains and a number of leaders. No disruptive or outspoken players. We are 5 games above .500 (a HUGE improvement over last season before I took over this year) and have been swapping places for 2nd place and even held 1st for a few games. 80 games into the season.
The clubhouse is still in disarray though. Not sure how much more leadership I can bring in and going from a last place team to 2nd and flirting with 1st seems like it would improve morale somewhat.

This is the sort of thing that makes me turn off all the personality stuff. It all sounds cool but it looks like a bare bones system was put in place and it doesn't actually work very well at all. Add in the black box nature of it and it's just not worth it, unless you're okay with the irrationality of it all.
After playing for several years I've concluded that a lot of the off-the-field systems in the game (coaching, personalities, etc.) are half-baked and don't make much sense. I think that's why the developers are so reluctant to explain them at all. If they did give us the nuts 'n' bolts of how it works people would realize there's not much to it. I love all the personality stuff but it’s getting frustrating I’m gonna keep on using it though. Adds some interesting moments to the game

I had a team like that in an earlier version in online league. And in some years it got horrific in my lowest minors level.
On top of the negative personality classes, I made sure to get rid of anyone with a bad work ethic since a lot of players do not like that trait. That and high greed, in enough numbers, can upset a clubhouse. Manager personality can play a role, too. For the minor league team, I got a Controlling manager as that personality does better in rough clubhouses (basically, the manager is the team leader) and since mainly veterans don't like that personality, there's no worry about that in the low minors. For a major league team, I might not change managers (especially if you're winning - never mess with a winning team unless you're clearly upgrading, imo) but I would look at who, if anyone, has low Work Ethic, especially if the players are complaining about slacker players. That means low work ethic. If you have a lot of high Greed players, I'd look at that too. I wouldn't necessarily get rid of talent (again, especially if you're winning/contending), but it's the first place I'd look. |

I play historical and turn that stuff off. Attitude is already reflected in their ratings.

Oh, by all means. It certainly adds some fun elements to the game, as long as you don't get frustrated trying to make total sense of it all or control it too much. I think it comes down to how much randomness one is comfortable with. |

Attitude DOES affect historical play even with personality and moan and groan turned off. A bad team has a hard time retaining its players who will become free agents.

I wonder whether multiple captains are a good idea. That doesn't always work out well in real life.

I remember in an older version of the game that it was possible to have too much leadership. I wonder if that's possible now or like you said, too many captains. I usually have just one at the most with the Captain personality class, so I haven't seen it, but I wonder what the effects would be. |

I find that when your team goes on an Inexplicable Schneid, the clubhouse disarray stems from the fact that several players are unhappy with their role on the team. Some jackweasels don’t like riding the pine. Either trade the malcontents, or do what I do in Commish mode, and edit ‘em, which I call “givin’ ‘em their happy pills”.

I trade the mouthy twits to the worst team in either league...or retire 'em.
I wish we had an option to send 'return email' to the players or owners, but mine would be chock full of choice words.

99% of the personality ratings in the quickstart are random.
