Satchel Paige
Just curious. Paige came back from a dead arm & pitched for the Monarchs from 1941 through 1947. I've done player searches for him for '41 - '44. He hasn't appeared. Am I missing something? I haven't looked for Paige during his earlier years. Does his name come up there? Thanks.

There's some interesting things in his wikipedia for those years if you haven't already seen it, here's the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satchel_Paige

I have included him in my 1932 (integrated), 1952, and 1960 simulations. He pitched amazingly well in 1956-58 for the Miami Marlins, yet the Phillies (parent club) never brought him up. I

The minor league agreement in the '50s was a little bit different. I'm not 100% sure on this, but my understanding is that the parent club supplied a good portion of players but minor league clubs could supplement teams with their own talent. Bill Veeck was an executive with the Marlins so Paige came in because he and Veeck worked together twice before. I don't know what hoops the Phillies would have needed to jump through to acquire Paige. Searching through the Sporting News archive, it is said that three (unnamed) MLB teams tried to lure Paige, but Paige chose to stay in Miami.

Thanks. I read that and other summaries of Paige's career before I posted. I didn't want to get this wrong. I started an integrated league with the 1939 season. I'm in 1945 now. No sign of him.

Not sure, he was mostly on the KC Monarchs in the 40's, though still was doing a lot of barnstorming. What were you trying to find, his known statistics? Have you tried Seamheads?
