OOTP Scouting vs. Your team scout

The draft is coming up for me and I am really concentrating and researching to draft the best I can and rebuild my pitching staff. Who do I listen to when I look over the draft pool? OOTP Scouting or my team scout? Who is more reliable to build for the future?

Thanks.

I scout but always trust the first 5 rounds of the mock draft

This depends on a few things. First, what is the accuracy setting for your scouting? Second, what is your scouting director's Amateur Scouting rating? Third, what are your SD's tendencies - favor pitching, defense, power, etc? Preference for toolsy high-potential players or current ability? All of that will have an effect on the scouting evaluations you get, as will how often you have a look at the individual prospects pre-draft.

You'll also get more familiar with your scout's quirks over time. One personal example: my SD apparently subscribes to the theory that one can never have too many good young arms. When I send him to scout the incoming draftees, it's almost guaranteed that his top ten will have at least eight pitchers. As a result, I will sometimes swap back and forth between his scouting report for a pitcher and the in-game scouting service. I also tend to pay close attention if he starts raving about a position prospect.

Finally, don't always go just by the overall star rating. It's useful to get a quick overall picture among dozens of choices, but if you have the time, always drill down into the particulars.
