Cap Images Missing Colors In 3D Games

The image shows what my team's hat looks like. As you can see, the top is all blue and the brim is all red.

During 3D games the front of the brim has an area of white that looks like an eclipse moving toward the rest of the hat. And only the front section of the cap blue, the rest of it is white. It's not just my team. I see this on other teams, as well. In fact, I'll have to look, but I'm not even sure the blue collar of the uniform is showing on field.

Has anyone else seen anything like this?

I had similar issues with a team that had a cap with that same template that just has the pieces of the cap colored.

Maybe that template was around for creators prior to 3-D. Newer templates that would be completely colored blue might show up better. Just a guess on my part.

That's unfortunately going to affect a sizeable percentage of the historical MLB caps done for historical leagues.

I posted it in the bug forum, as well. It's a really annoying issue. In this image of my pitcher you can clearly see the problem. Are all players bald, as well, in 3D?

The resolution of this issue is that it's not a bug. It's an effect of using mods that were created before the 3D engine existed. I'm going to have to find a more current historical caps mod (if one exists).

That's what I figured. I posted in the mods forum about all the older historical caps being like this --- no one seemed to care.

I started a thread, as well, asking if there existed any updated historical caps. We'll see if it gets any traction. As a historical-only player, I really want that flavor in my 3D games!

I would say a lot of the historical caps that use the old template could be recreated fairly easily like I did below using the free cap maker tool. If you have the cap logos for the rest of them you could fix them all.

Couldn't the existing logo from the 'bad' .png just be pasted into the tool for the new cap? If I can make it work I'm very tempted to take on the task of updating the OOTP14 cap mod files to the 3D requirements, though I'm often in the habit of taking on projects and not finishing them.

It would be tought to lift some of those logos from the older template and be able to paste them in an equally as good condition (from my experience)

My thinking would be to go to Chris Creamer's site that has pretty much each logo you would need and copy them from there to use in the new template

The cap maker program is easy to use. Both the online one and the program made by justafan are basically the same. The online one has a few more options. I've just made 80 caps with justafan's cap maker for my 40 team fictional league. Also, so many low profile caps need to be redone that I only do them as I need them. Many I will never need so I don't do the ones I don't use.

Yes, I use the existing logo from the low profile cap. I crop it, then add transparency to the background and save it. Then you use that newly created logo on a new cap. The good thing is all the hard work had already been done. The cap colors and the logo so you don't have to go searching for all that info.

So here's what I did as a replacement for my cap in the original post. I clipped the logo from the old .png, hoping it will suffice for quality. I'm going to try it in-game next and see how it looks.

It looks like it did the job, and I don't think the logos are quite bad enough to require a new image. Of course, this is recreating a very simple file. May not be that easy for other caps. Not sure I really want to take on doing 500 of these.

Only 142 by my count

Even if it was only 142, I think I might find the task daunting. But since the pack I have has ~500 my obsessive nature would not let me do only 142. I'm not even sure where I got these logos. It's called OOTP14 Imports. It have uniforms, caps, and ballparks.

The reason I take the logo and add the transparency is if I want to put that logo on a different color cap. On the dark blue cap the background blends right in. I also created a folder and saved all of my logos to keep them handy should I want to use them again. Sometimes it's not just letters.

My paint.net skills are a bit rusty, so I'm not sure what you mean by transparency. What I did after cropping the logo was just use the magic wand to select and delete the background that isn't part of the logo. It seems to work for solid, single-letter logos. I haven't attempted anything more complicated.
