Who did it? Most likely the people who designed the game. Seems that way to me, anyway. Although I suppose a sinister force could have invaded your computer and made Mays fragile, Kofax lose his fast ball, and Coco Laboy think he is Hank Aaron.

Could just be bad luck. I have Jasson Dominguez and he was progressing nicely through the minors then got an injury and now he is fragile. Maybe one of Mays OOTP injuries pushed him to fragile and if you played the 5 years over from the beginning maybe he wouldn't miss a game. Just luck of the draw.

The moment you enter a new historical game, it's a new and evolving universe. Anything you know about the legendary players no longer applies as they are no longer legends, just a player like any other.

I think its extremely unlikely a legend is going to end up a career utility player. But he might end up a good player and a not so near miss for the HOF.

May vary according to settings though. I use 3 year recalc no weight, dev on, 100 talent change. But I still have a hard time accepting that with other setting a legend would end up a bust.

I had one save where Nolan Ryan flamed out by the age of 23. Anything is possible. It's a new and parallel universe from the original.

A couple of injuries that killed his ratings and sent him into obscurity. That's the point I was trying to make though. We know today that Mays and Ryan were legends with long careers, but that's the benefit of hindsight. In the parallel universe that is a historical game, they are just another name for things to happen to, and one never knows.

With my settings I've experienced career ending injuries for long career players but not one where a player was diminished by injuries.

In my current game Bob Friend's career ended in his first spring training!
