Which (if any) historical edit setting controls the minimum age of players? How about number of draft rounds?

I have not purchased the game yet, and before I do I want to know...
Can I create my own fictional custom League? For example can I create a 10 or 12 team league and start it in 1980? During a game as the Coach can I make line changes during play (i.e. dump the puck deep into the other teams zone to send out a new line or defensive pair, or all 5) and NOT only when play has stopped? Thank you for your time. -BlackRabbit |

Any chance the players listed on the Hall of Fame ballot can be linkable or we're able to see their career stats when hovering on their name?

The minimum age and draft rules aren't editable right now. There are a lot of potential problems that could result from changing a league's age limits, so that's off-limits until we can figure out how to do it in a safe way. Same thing for the draft rules, although I think changing the number of rounds should be reasonablty problem-free, I'll see if we can do that.

Thank You
Apologizes if this is too off topic or too long. I get carried away sometimes.
Thank you for both responses and telling me about pausing. The reason I asked that particular question is I want to be the GM AND Coach, and make all the decisions a coach dose during a game, like who to put out on the ice and when. Being able to change players ONLY during play stoppage dose not sound to me like you have complete control over all and every decision like the advertisements for this game say. I do not understand the point of having a coaching option if you can not even do something basic like change lines and defense pairs, or just a single player, during game play. Changing players during play is unique to hockey and is very important. Without it you are missing a huge strategic aspect of the game. FHM 7 has more then enough options and control for GM's that look absolutely fantastic, but as far as coaching goes if you can't change lines during play then it's not hockey. I might as well be playing soccer/football. I have been looking for a Hockey GM/Coaching game for a while that allows you to change players during play with no luck, however I will be the first to say that my skills for making internet searches are not very good. If anyone happens to know of one PLEASE let me know, I would greatly appreciate it. About a thousand years ago (actually it was the early 90's, it just feels like a thousand years ago) I had this hateful role and scroll hockey text game that I can not remember the name of, that allowed you to make line changes during play every time you went threw the neutral zone with puck possession. This game was the absolute antithesis of user friendly, in fact is was down right user hostile. So absolutely difficult to use, extremely limited options, no schedule maker of any kind, no draft, no minor league. It was just a striped down hockey game playing engine that fought me every step of the way in setting up a league and teams to the point of insanity and tears... but it let me make player substitutions during play so I put up with it all. It was so beyond user hostile that it became user abusive. In fact so much so that I am pretty sure it knocked 10 years off my life. My search continues. Thanks again. -BlackRabbit |

You're probably thinking of APBA hockey, I played that. I want to do something similar with our game engine, but that's going to be a large project.

That was not the one that I had. The one I had was a computer game that ran in DOS. Old school Roll and Scroll, as in before GUI's, or Graphical User Interface. Roll and Scroll is short for Command Line which is how you used DOS. When you add that Coaching function I will be one of the first to buy it. Do you have a ballpark (excuse the pun) estimate of when you might start working on that or when it might be ready for sale? If you need people to Beta play it I would be happy to when you get to that stage. I have no programing ability, but I could play the hell out of it. ;) Thanks for the info and your time. -BlackRabbit |

What happens if I don't choose any training options for my players? Do they train randomly, get no training at all, or is training dispersed evenly through all their skills?
I ask because I forgot to set training, and players still had development... so I was curious how that worked. Thanks! |

So what's the best way to do that? If someone has really low numbers in an area, should we bother giving them giving them that "boost". If payers have really high numbers in an area, would a "boost" do anything if we put it in that category?

It depends what they need to be successful player. If a guy's near a top of a category, I wouldn't waste development on that. Trying to bump up something lower would make more sense.

Hi !
I see that there is no promotion/relegation system in the swiss league. Since it's seems hardcoded, is it possible to make it work ? If I remember, it was functionnal in FHM 6. The last 4 clubs of the National league (1st division) play in the play-outs (2 series, best of 7) and the looser play a best of 7 serie with the winner of the Swiss leaug (2nd division) playoffs. Thanks! |
