Is there anyone out there who can help please
I did the pre-release purchase of OOTP so this problem has been going on since then. I have also been a customer for over 10 years with no issues till now. When I load the game to start a season everything seems to work I can edit I can update I see the players etc., but when I click on the button to start my first game it crashes and goes back to my Windows opening screen. I have talked to Alex @ OOTP he has taken over my computer checked everything and admits he is stumped, there is no reason the game should not recognize my video/graphic card. I have contacted Radeon tech support and they think it is something in the software itself and saying there is nothing wrong with the card. I have contacted Windows tech support same answer and finally I have contact Hewit Packard and they too took over the computer and did tests and say there is nothing wrong with the card. This computer is loaded with memory and all the goodies and played the game last year with no problems. Has anyone experienced these problems or better yet have any suggestions to get it to work.

I presume, since you've been in touch with the OOTP staff, that you've ruled out the possibility that the change to 64 bit architecture is responsible for your problem. Have you tried running the 32 bit version?

What happens for me is here and there, when I try to open the game, it acts as if it will load, but then I'm kicked back to my desktop. The game refuses to open. The game is running in the background, as I can see the process running in Task Manager, but it will not open properly. What's worse is something stays hanging even though I close the process out because the only "fix" is to restart the computer...and it gets stuck on restart every single time. If I do a normal restart without having the issue with the game, my computer restarts normally. I also had an issue with the game displaying properly and would sometimes hang with weird colors, but I've figured out it just can't handle my huge monitor at full screen well, and have been able to fix it with setting it in Windowed Mode. So I guess, all that to say, do you still have the issue if you put it on Windowed mode instead of Full Screen ? It did work for me, well, kinda. I strongly suspect the issue is with the 64 bit version of the game not running well on my computer for some reason. There are no reasons it shouldn't, but absolutely everything else works great (64 bit version of games, playing on maxed out settings, 4k gaming, etc.) Yet the least demanding game I have installed on my computer is the one giving me fits. If I find something else, I'll let you know. I'll check in the event log next time it hangs like that and see if it coincides with something else. Last edited by eldur00; 04-19-2021 at 12:54 AM. |

I've seen lots of people with this problem but we keep being told it's OUR computer. Seems like if so many people having this problem it's more than just everyone's PC. I thought I had mine fixed but late last night it started again. How many time must I check every nook & cranny on my PC? I've nearly done a complete restore of my laptop and problem keeps coming back....for lots of people. BB |

I had this issue. In Settings (game settings, not your league settings), did you disable the 3d features? If so, re-enable them and that will fix this.

Sorry to hear you are having the same issues sort of I also have a big monitor all-in-one computer 34" screen, but I have set to window mode again no success. I have been thinking about buying a new computer, but it sounds like that will not solve the problem and it is stupid to spend $2500.00 for a $36.00 game.

slugga, I set the 3D to enable and the game kicks it back to disable that is why Alex at OOTP was stumped.

Yeah, let me throw this out there and see if anyone has recommendations to run us through.
So the issue is that the game doesn't find a supported OpenGL version to use. We ran a tracefile on his computer and the trace is finding his graphics card to have Open GL 1.1 (basically no OpenGL) and when we check his Radeon Adrenalin it lists his RX 460 with OpenGL Not Available. This would make sense since the game can't locate a working OpenGL to play the 3D games with. So the game is always disabling the 3D settings. We attempted driver reinstallations and even trying to force the computer to use the internal GPU which was an intel 640. However, the Radeon kept bullying its way back in before we could see if the 640 would be a workaround. One thing I did find from some Radeon forums was to try enabling GPU Scaling found under Radeon Settings > Display with the most updated Radeon Graphics driver. Supposedly that could be a cause of the issue. I need to do some deeper dives into the 460 and OpenGL issues in case this is something that's more hardware-related. We attempted to use the single folder FastSpring version in addition to the steam version already owned. The OS is 64 Bit so 32 Bit shouldn't be any help in this situation. Thanks Alex |

Yes please, if you could post the solution that would be helpful. I'm still having a similar issue to yours, although now I know it's slightly different as I narrowed it down - I have one monitor that is much larger than the other one. The game runs fine for me - until I unplug my large monitor to connect into my game capture card to stream a different game (OOTP is not in play at this time). Then, I replug the monitor back to my computer, and if I attempt to launch the game at this point, I just can't get it to until I force shutdown my computer (even if I kill the OOTP process, a normal Restart will hang forever). It's as if the game loses track of the monitor after being unplugged, and as a result, cannot launch properly. So while different, I might have to dig in some of the places you've had to to fix your issue. |

Wow...I was also considering that. I was also gonna try to go back to 32 bit but someone else said that didn't work either. 1st time in 20+ years with any issues for me, but I suspect things will get worst |

Alex and gang, when talking to the AMD tech support team he advised me that there are 2 versions of the RX460 graphics card, one is a standard card, and one is a mobile card. Chances are if you have an all-in-one computer, you have a mobile card and the drivers used for that card is set by the manufacturer in my case HP. What i had to do was download the HP drivers separately, uninstall all the AMD drivers in safe mode then install the HP drivers. After you do this, you then must go into the display mode browse your computer to find the OOTP .exe file and highlight it to be recognized by the card. Then you have some option questions and must make it "high powered" mode and then close everything out and whamo it worked. I have not tried the game today, but I hope it works. Hope this was helpful as Alex and I have been trying to get this fix for several weeks now.

I pretty much believe we are our own from here out. Seems like only problem here is our computers. I just checked in to my paying team. Couldn't set lineup, couldn't look at AH, league data not found. What gives OOTP. Tons of people begging for help. Now we can't even go back to 32 bit because it won't work. Where do we go from here?
