Pitched No Hitter, took the loss

These are rare indeed. Funny how the boxscore makes no mention of the No hitter, only the news article does.

Did you play out this game? Must have been hard to watch if you did. This game can be quite humbling if you cannot take dealing with situations you have little control over.... like real baseball I guess.

No, didn't play this one out, didn't even watch it. Just saw the box n news after. Wish I had of seen it though.

Baseball is a ton of fun, even when it's disappointing

Yeah this happen a few years ago in my game and I was like the Headline should be Myung Throws No-Hitter but Loses game 1-0 in Extras.

Best part of this I believe he was a guy who started Career in one of my INT leagues and the POY he won this year was his fourth but first in MLB

That's not an official no hitter.

MLB changed the ruling on no hitters at least 10 years ago (I think it was that long)

A pitcher has to pitch at least 9 innings and allow no hits for a no hitter.

A ruling that ruined one of the greatest stories baseball fans could tell, the tale of the Harvey Haddix no hitter. It seems the actual ruling is you can't have a no hitter unless you win..

Well Haddix's game was always an asterisk. He gave up a hit in the game.

It could be argued the asterisk in on the definition of "game" not on Haddix' performance. Consider the contrast with the Roger Maris' asterisk. Maris got an asterisk because "season" was situationally defined as fewer games and Haddix got one because "game" was situationally defined as more innings.

A baseball game is a complete game, played until there is a winner. They've even done away with ties and play out every game. You can't pitch a no hitter and give up a hit. Haddix gave up a hit. He is actually rewarded by the asterisk that alerts people to his amazing performance.

30 years ago by now. Changed in 1991 to disqualify Andy Hawkins' 4-0 eight-inning loss.

Maris got listed in the records with an asterisk.

Haddix was removed so there's nothing to asterisk.
