family lore goes that my great grandfather Elbert Thomas Wren, who i never got to meet, was a great pitcher and was offered a contract by the st louis cardinals but turned it down to get married instead. He went on to have over 12 children..so I guess it worked out for him. He also apparently boxed in the New York area for some time before later becoming a traveling preacher.

He was born in 1903 so this was possibly between 1918-1925ish

The photo of him in the uniform is possibly from Lilbourn Missouri as he lived in the village of Lewis which was right next to lilbourn. The cardinals had several affiliates at the time in that area, which is dead center between northern arkansas, southern illinois, southern missouri.

his face has been partly washed out in the photo of him in the uniform. Its also what seems to be an off guard photo as his face is either mid laugh or smiling awkwardly. The washout is possibly from a bad scan that I received, also not sure if its a scan of a scan situation. So I took another young photo of him from the time period and blended the faces.

I also have posted a later in life photo. He passed away in 1992.

I'm going through a large batch of slides purchased a year ago and came across this one - Bump Wills is printed on the frame, no date given but similar slides come from the late 70s/early 80s. It just doesn't look like Wills to my (rapidly aging) eyes... any thoughts on who this might be?

I'm currently cataloging TV Folder AE. I've noticed some players have the same images twice. One with the 'reddish' tint and the second image colorized. Example: Jim Gosger AE399 and AE400. The first with the 'reddish' tint and the second colorized. George Thomas AE011 - AE014, all four colorized, plus the same four images AE251 - AE254 with a 'faded' color to them. Are these the correct images in this particular TV Folder ? Thanks for your assistance in explaining the images in this Folder.

Thank you for your reply. I have Gosger AE399 'batting' 'reddish tint', The same image of Gosger batting AE400 colorized, Gosger AE401 'batting side ways', Gosger AE402 'facing front chest high - no B in Boston showing', Gosger AE403 'facing front - chest high -letters BOSTON all showing' and Gosger AE404 'kneeling with bat'. Anyone out there able to share the correct AE400 image with me ? Would be greatly appreciated ! Regards and thank you again for your response.'luvbblogos'

These four images AE011 - AE014 of Thomas - Boston are 'colorized' and they are the same four images of Thomas AE251 - AE254 which are dull in comparison. I only have Chop Country the 'Vault' as a guide. Regards 'luvbblogos'.
