how does the gazzette work?

Hey guys,

Just downloaded Cato's gazzette. How do I get it to work?

When i try to get it to work, it first asks me what file my
"league.hmtl" is in. Where is that located?

Once I locate it what else do I have to do to get the gazzette to work?

Sorry, I am such a novice!

There's no problem being a novice, but please don't be a slack novice. There is a readme file for the Gazette in every version of the program, including the patches. The following is copy and pasted from the readme:

Usage:

1. In OOTP version 4, generate web reports. Player pages are not necessary,
but be sure to include ALL boxscores for the league.

2. Create a text file called teaminfo.txt in the folder where you saved OOTP's
output. In this text file, enter each team's name and abbreviation seperated
by a comma, one per line. For example,

Atlanta,ATL
Anaheim,ANA
New York (A),NYY

and so on. Team name and abbreviation must be EXACTLY as it appears in OOTP.
Team names can not contain commas.

3. Run Gazette.exe

4. Click the folder icon and choose the folder where you saved OOTP's output.

5. If the playoffs have already been played, enter the date of the first playoff
game. This is needed so that playoff games do not count in the standings.

6. Click 'Options' to change the Title, Motto, or 3rd Line data, if necessary.

7. Click 'Go to Press!' to start creating the pages. The following will happen:

* A folder called 'gazetteXXXX', where XXXX is the year, will be made under
the selected folder.
* Each day's page (e.g., 04092002.htm) will be saved in this folder.
* An index page will be created in 'gazetteXXXX'. This page will contain
links to each day.
* A stylesheet, gazette.css, will be created in 'gazetteXXXX'. This stylesheet
will be referenced on each page and will allow easier customization of the
look of the pages.
* The league.htm page will be backed up to league.bak, if it doesn't already
exist.
* The league.htm page will be modified to include a link to that year's
gazette index page under League News.
* The file gazette.ini will be updated with any changes from the Options screen

Edit: If you are unsure how to output html from the game check the games manual, there should be instructions on how to create the OOTP html reports.

Any chance of updating the gazette program to use in OOTP5?
