Catchers - Historical League
I have noticed that in historical leagues, there are many catchers who import with elite 80/80 defense in either the game OR their draft class. Is there a reason for this? I wouldn't think that Carlos Delgado or Craig Wilson should have 206 catcher ability. Career minor leaguers also have these inflated ratings too. I don't remember this being an issue in previous versions of OOTP. Anyone have any thoughts as to why these numbers are so high for only catchers?

I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I have never had this problem, including with version 21. It seems like a settings issue, but it isn't obvious to me what settings would be creating this problem.

Default settings too. It is only the catcher ability that is insanely high, not the arm. Just so many catchers who are rated 80/80. I have seen this in the online league that I am in too.

Here is a 1994 historic league. I touched no settings at all. I simply fired up my computer and let all the options be default. Notice 170 minor league catchers in my league are rated 80/80. 7 at the MLB level are. There seems to be something very wrong with how Minor League catchers are rated.

Here is the default 1994 draft. A little better, but still a ton of highly rated defensive catchers.
Doing a Google search, it appears others have noticed this strange phenomenon as well. Curious if anyone has a fix for this OR someone can possibly look into it. https://www.ootpbaseball.net/showthread.php?p=4646166 https://www.reddit.com/r/OOTP/commen...nely_specific/ |

Bump...may not be fixable for OOTP 21, but possibly for 22? Here are a few more reports from back last spring by a few other users..

Interesting. I’ve definitely noticed catchers have higher ratings than the other positions in my sim. I kinda wrote it off as “dime a dozen” at that position. Maybe you are onto something here. I had issues with pitcher stamina but in the past that was tied to using adjusted stats instead of real. No idea if something similar is at play.

I still feel that some calculation is off when importing the catchers. None of the other positions are as highly rated although I would imagine catcher ability would have to be higher for any MLB quality player since there are only 2 catcher ratings. |

Are you importing 3 yrs of defense stats or career? I do career and never see this

I have tried career (my first choice), 3 year, and 1 year. It has only been an OOTP 21 thing. Try turning ratings to 100% accurate, immediately it is seen that there is something wrong with guys who were minor league catchers.

Very odd then, I didn't have an issue with Carlos Delgado in my Strike league but maybe he was an outlier?
