Updated default roster sets and player ratings

The new patch notes include

* Updated default roster sets and player ratings (need to start a new game for changes to apply)

Does anyone know the extent of these changes? Basically just wondering if it's enough that I should start a new game (only about a season in currently) or if it wouldn't be worth it. Thanks.

They're updated as of like Monday iirc.

The Live Start should at least clean up stuff like Odor if you use that for now.

I'm assuming the roster update for opening day will have Lindor's contract added?

Does the Steam update automatically update the rosters? Or do I also need to patch as well? Thanks.

The next roster update won't be until the next patch, likely sometime next week, but the Live start should at least clean a few things (trades, releases etc if not so much ratings changes) up if you use that in the meantime.

Steam will usually auto install the patches, and any roster updates come in the patches. But you do have to create a new save to get the updates after the patch is installed.

So Steam downloaded something this morning when I opened. I went to check Lindor's contract after setting up a New Standard game, and he's still in the last year of his contract. Does that mean I need to manually install the patch?

Thanks.

No. Lindor’s contract was not part of this latest patch. Didn’t he sign late yesterday?

Okay, so to get the Lindor contract, i'll have to wait for the patch #2 next week? Thanks.

I did a live start, it's still pretty far off from opening day lineups, waiting to start a Cubs solo and it didn't have the Wolters signing, still had Marquez in the bigs, Alzolay in AAA. If you're wanting accurate rosters probably best bet to wait for next patch I suppose

Yeah, the Live Start won't necessarily have opening day rosters either, since it runs a full AI update after importing the data, and obviously will not have any of the most recent roster updates.

Would that all be updated tomorrow then? Although I suppose then it would start on 4/2 and not 41

Live start won't get 100% accurate rosters anytime, just because actual MLB rosters have so much flux to them. Players get placed on weird holding lists, and the data we get from our service provider unfortunately doesn't just give a pure "on roster" vs "off roster". Never mind that as soon as you go to play games or sim a day, the AI will still take over and adjust things.

Are you anticipating we'll get an opening day roster update next week then?

Just using your example though, I did a lot more tweaking and finally got the AI to send Herrera down after the last patch came out. So next patch should reflect that and have him start in AAA.

But the OD roster will never be perfect because sometimes there's just no way to 'make' the AI do the same thing the real team did. f.e. there's typically nothing we can do when the AI wants to keep a 9th RP for example when a RL team is only keeping 8 or vice-versa.

Or sometimes the AI wants to play service time games and keep a prospect down when the rl team isn't playing service time games. Or vice-versa. Again, not much we can do there.

Yes, most likely. But even then, like I said in this thread(and quoted above), the rosters will still never be 100% perfect, because the AI always plays into things.

So next weeks update will be closer to OD than what's in game now, but it still will not be totally accurate..

So if I want to account for the changes in the Red Sox opening day lineup and rainout, should I ditch the game I started a few days ago (which is now up to April 1, today) and restart with a Live start?

There have been several changes. Eduardo Rodriguez is on the 10-day injury list; Tanner Houck has been called up from the minors to fill the #2 pitching slot; and Opening Day was postponed due to rain. If I do restart with a Live start, should I wait til tomorrow?

Since he started Opening Day in CF for the Phillies can we remove the groin injury for Adam Haseley so that he is available to play.
