Miguel Cabrera
Interested to hear what some people running tigers sims have done with Miggy in OOTP22 or in the past versions.
His contract is crippling so in past versions of the game I would trade him away as best I can. If I remember correctly I had to get creative in OOTP21 trading for other high priced veterans and pulling off multiple trades to work down to more reasonable contract that was easier to move. I haven’t tried yet, but it seems this year would be a true challenge to trade him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wasnt able to get rid of Caberra fast enough so i had to suffer with his contract (pre 22) as in current version the player lets you know who he willing to be traded to if you go to his contract page at bottom. Some refuse to be traded while others willing to forgo 10/5 or no trade clause in contract.

You're stuck with it. Just like the Tigers are in real life.
You can probably try to hammer out some crazy trade where you take on a bunch of big money deals, but thinking realistically, I would hope no GM would actually do that. Just hope he retires early, I guess. |

I'm not playing as the Tigers but as the Yanks. So I always have to attach a high level prospect with Stanton to free myself with him. Anyone tried that with Cabrera especially since the Tigers system is pretty good.

I started a 2020 game with OOTP 21 and couldn't find a realistic way to trade him. He didn't retire until after 2022, but I was surprised that he did. He hit over .300 that year in limited at bats. Thought for sure he was going to hang on, especially since we miraculously made the playoffs (although we were swept in the first round). And now that I have more money to play with I have to work on long term contracts for Mize and Manning who have turned out to be pretty darned good.

You guys don't understand. This is explained to us every spring. Miggy is in great shape, says he feels just like he did in 2013. Based on social media posts from the Tigers that I've scrolled past, I would estimate he has hit 50 home runs in the Grapefruit League this season. It's FINE.

Lol so true. But he did hit 10 homers in 57 games last year. And doesn’t he look great. Didn’t you see that run down the other day lol. They better hope Nunez doesn’t hit 40 homers somewhere else.

I am encouraged by how Cabrera looks and I think playing first on occasion will give him a mental boost and up his game. But yah always positive thinking early in the season before reality sets in.
In the game I might just ride out his contract, though I will edit/remove the last 2 years. If it same as OOTP21, they have his age 41 and 42 season as guaranteed. However his contact really has those as option years if he ends up in the top 10 of MVP voting (not happening). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
