Is another roster update coming before the start of the season? I wonder if any adjustments will be made for Akil Baddoo since he’s had a great spring.

I know its just spring training but he tore it up.

Remember in spring training games they don't bat against the best every at bat. You can't really go by that for that reason. I wonder if through player editor you can adjust I'm not sure...

STAHEAD controls the ratings of players. It generally takes a couple weeks to get everything rolling pretty good too. And if you're playing just OOTP the LIVE STATS will update players on a daily basis. It's actully pretty dang cool. Lemme correct myself...STATHEADS are used for the PT ratings this year. The developers don't actually rate each card.



I'm enjoying myself in OOTP...I'm playing a season but once everything, bugs, errors, season starts I will reboot everything and start a universe in OOTP

ALSO...People always want to raise the rating but don't say much about the bad spring players are having. lol. That was me last year...Sledgehammer to head corrects my thinking

He already got a significant adjustment within the last week to increase his current ratings and make him more likely to stick on the Tigers in-game.

That should be reflected in the release build already. As of now we aren't planning any additional adjustments.

I figured, he definitely has some potential already. How does the live ratings work? Once I start a simulation are those frozen?

Once you start simming, the game's development engine takes over and things don't follow real life any more.

I believe there is an option in your league settings, to update the ratings in your league based on the Live data if you want to. You have to manually run this each time you want to update the ratings though, it's not automatic.

This all sounds good, but I was thinking ya'll do a roster update around opening day also, right? I know the AI has a mind of its own, but in the current Tiger game that I started with the most recent build, Baddoo had already been sent back to Minnesota when the game opened. Don't think that's likely at the moment, but I guess when that happens, the only option is to edit him back to Detroit.

Yeah, we'll take at least one more pass through things before OD. Most likely two. My last tests after the latest changes he seemed to stick for the most part, but sounds like that might not always end up being the case.

Anyway, as we go through thing this week, we'll check on that again (not just for Baddoo but for everyone) and make more changes where needed.

That being said, since the ai has a mind of its own, this is not the sort of thing we can ever get perfect for everyone. We just do the best we can to encourage the ai to make the 'right' choice

Thank you for that. As you say, its impossible for each of us to be happy with the AI on every player, but it does a nice job overall. When I looked at the opening beta, I thought - oh no, the Tigers will lose 120 games if all their pickups are going to be evaluated on last years injury/illness plagued season. Teheran couldn't have pitched at AA level and most of the other additions were AAA candidates. But after the next pass they improved enough to at least give a glimmer of hope of keeping losses to double digit.

I was actually surprised how high Boyd’s ranking was for the tigers. But also disappointed on other rankings.

Especially torkelson, he is rated as a top 5 prospect above Austin martin, and martins overall potential is a bit higher.

I’m prob nit picking, and also maybe some fog induced variation but still was slightly disappointed in that.

I think you have scouting turned on, because what you are describing is not how the 'real' ratings have those guys.

You have to turn scouting off to get the real picture of the ratings. If you keep it on, there's enough randomization to give you a totally skewed picture.
