Yeah, catchers seem to end up really few and far between after the big rounds (when you're not thinking of drafting a backup). Your catcher then ends up absolutely spent after just the first round of games and can't recover at all. To be honest, each set of colors (excluding perfect) should offer one catcher minimum (including bronze and iron). My strat is to take all my bench guys in the bronze/iron stages, and by then it seems there's never a second catcher available. Which is crazy given the massive card pool that you get to draft from by that point.

I was offered 2 catchers in the 1st round but I took, uh, what's his name at 2B. I was actually looking for SP but as it turns out I wasn't offered one until the 3rd round. I took a catcher in the 2nd round and as it turns out I was offered 3 or 4 more catchers throughout (funny enough I wasn't offered much in the way of corner outfielders).

After several tries, won my first series (baby steps). Of course, it helped that my opponent only had 3 players. I still managed to lose the first game of the series.
Only drawback to PD so far is the limit of one-at-a-time. One of my teams is waiting for a weekly tourney, so it is stuck while waiting. Would like to be able to do different types of PD tourneys at the same time with the same user ID, like in regular tourneys. |

i really like the perfect draft. i'm enjoying it more than i liked tournaments. The drafting element is great. The idea that i can use a card i may never be able to use in perfect team is great. But...
i've seen a few people mention spreading to positions out a little better. And i wouldn't do that in the first rounds of the draft. But the iron round, where we are picking five players, couldn't PT give us at least 1 of each position, then give us 3 wild cards. i just finished a draft where i had gotten my starters filled out and my rotation and bullpen set. i just wanted to balance my roster. In the final round i got nothing but pitchers and outfielders. i ended up with one player that could play 2nd and one player that could play ss. In an earlier game, i was stuck with 1 catcher. After the team with 1 catcher, i made sure to draft two catchers early, but it is nearly impossible to do that for every position. And, if we do that, you've taken away our choice because it become a matter of taking someone you don't want because you don't know if you'll get another player at that position. And still, the way it works now, if i have two catchers going into the last round, what's to stop the system from giving me 6 catcher and the rest pitchers from which to choose? i understand being stuck with an iron catcher as a backup because i didn't pick up an extra one when i had a chance. But it doesn't seem fair to not a have backup at one position, while i have an iron 3rd or 4th catcher or a 6th outfielder or a 6th or 7th starting pitcher that i won't even use in a tourney or round robin because i didn't have a choice. if you don't want to give us an option at every position in the last round, at very least, make sure the system give us one option at each level? (once catcher, one infielder, one outfielder one pitcher and the rest wild cards?) Last edited by Dark Horse; 03-26-2021 at 10:55 PM. |

I don't think the AI uses "if starter tired" in the lineup settings properly. I've definitely seen most of my team get down to half stamina or lower despite having backups in the depth chart set to "if starter tired."
Of course you're able to sort of manage this by using 7-day rosters, micromanaging the team, or trying to rotate with the backup playing every 3/4/5th day, but that seems wildly inconvenient to me and not at all like the rest of the game. Has anyone else noticed this issue? Edit: forgot to mention how much I'm loving the perfect draft format anyways, it totally rules. Last edited by landy2100; 03-27-2021 at 12:00 AM. |

Although my first impression was negative, I'm warming up to the mode. It's free, no need to buy cards, what's not to like? The UI needs improving though. In the lower left you have positions drafted especially needs work. The positions should all be listed and in a fixed position and when you first draft followed by 0/0. It would look like this:
C: 0/0 1B 0/0 2B 0/0 3B 0/0 SS 0/0 SP: 0 RP: 0 LF 0/0 CF 0/0 RF 0/0 So, why 2 numbers? The first number represents the card's main position while the 2nd number indicates all the cards with secondary ratings at that position. Below the card currently is the position and name. Honestly, don't care about the name which is on the card after all. That space should be used to provide more info at a glance like this 3B 77; 2B 55; OR LF 77; CF 22; RF 70 That way you know at a glance the card's main position and any secondary ones. If you could squeeze two lines below the card you would have that info plus Con; Gap; Power; Eye: AvK for hitters Con; Mov; Ctrl; stam; HR for pitchers. I don't want to ever have to open the card profile because after looking at it, I won't remember what I saw just seconds after I close it. Seeing things at a glance would make the mode less frustrating. |

Really enjoying Perfect Draft. I love the tough choices each round. I was dying for a 2B ... ANY 2B ... to show up by round 11 ... 12 ... 13 ...
I'm sure things could be better customized for info I particularly want to see but right now, it's really cool. 5/5 stars in my Yelp review.

Thank you for the explanation, you're totally right, I just don't understand why it is set that way. |

I think we could use a round that's designated just for relief pitchers. I would love to use 98 Aroldis Chapman, but taking him early would handcuff my team.

I am all for adding rounds that give you selections for only one position, especially the critical ones (SP, RP, C). Just went through another draft in which I ended up with only one catcher, which breaks the team immediately.
In my head, SP, RP, and C would all have one round in which all selections are from them. It would be a silver or bronze round round though (so not the top 5 and not the last one with the runts of the litter). Although with catchers, if you then pick one early, you end up with three, which is unnecessary. See, this is why we're talking about it here. I will now step aside to get greater minds involved ![]()

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else in this thread so maybe I'm alone but other than loving the mode I have one more thought. Since we're spending 20 min. on each one, I kind of feel like the rewards are kind of low. 600 pp for a 16 team tourney and you spend 20 min on drafting seems like not the greatest use of time. I'm wondering if when the newness of this wears off others may feel the same way. As it is now though, as soon as one ends I enter another so...

I won! How do I claim my points?
I won a draft tourney! Sadly, I did not receive the 2,000 PP for my victory. Help!
