Hi guys, just bought the new game.

I've played OOTP a few years now but always quite casually and never over a prolonged period.

I just wondered what some of the key settings are that you guys always check/update to optimise your experience?

Hoping to play this new version into a few seasons for a change.

I actually made a video about this, but didn't publish it, because this version of the game is different from the others. What I definitely change first is ratings display 20-80, instead of the stars and draft pick trading will be turned on. Before I always set aging speed down, but am still testing whether the new coaching function makes this irrelevant.

A lot of it is personal preference but i do change a few things:

Batter aging: .95
Batter dev: 1.05
Pitcher aging: .85
Pitcher dev: 1.05
Talent change randomness: 115

I change to 20-80 ratings scale with showing over 80 ratings. I also show player personality.

League options: i turn off more hitting/more pitching, fa service time rule changes, expansion, nickname change. I keep dh rule until one league changes to match the other then turn it off

For manager preferences i let ai promote/demote except for top prospects which i control and disable ai promo/demo. I also let ai sign/release minor leaguers

Personally i play gm only but i do force lineup spots on occasion. I mostly quick sim until playoffs when i watch the games but that's preference

Always set roster size, service time, and age limits for the minor leagues. That will help maintain a competitive balance and you won't have dozens of players on one team at one level.
