Where Should I Buy 22 From?

i normally buy from the webstore, should i continue that trend? Is there any advantage to ordering from Steam?

Also i run OOTP on my x Drive, should i download the single folder version?

how does PT know that I own 19-21? I want to delete 19 from my X drive. Should i do that after i download 22 and get Pt set up? i want those extra packs.

Not buying til sometime this afternoon.

For PT, it's based on your username. Deleting 19 won't affect the free packs.

The main advantage to ordering from steam is likely the fact that all version updates will automatically be downloaded and installed when logging onto your steam account, rather than having to download and install manually from the OOTP website.

If you buy directly from the website, the developers get all the revenue (I don't know how this is distributed with publishers etc.). If you get the game on Steam, Valve gets a certain share.

This. But then again, the more people buy on Steam, the better we get picked up by their algorithms and hence get discovered by more people, who in turn buy the game. So, it's probably a wash

See I knew I was a good person. My momma always said so. No longer will I hang my head in shame. When someone asks me why I purchased the game from Steam, knowing full well I wasn't giving all my money to OOTP, I can say I'm improving the algorithms baby, it's all about the algorithms. By the way, the Algorithms were the warmup band for the Kinks concert I attended at Cobo Hall back in 83. They rock.

Hey, your currently the top seller on Steam so that is good news!

I bought on Steam. I know how bad I would be when it comes to manually updating the game so I prefer to let Steam handle it.

This!

I have a DSL connection which is OK, but not great. having to do a full download for each patch, and do it manually, was a pain. Steam does it overnight and the patch seems smaller.

I can't stand how steam just bullies it's way into your computer resources and time. I'm old school tech guy so love the fact I can straight download OOTP and update it the way I see fit.

After Markus let slip some hints about how well PT was doing in terms of revenue I fell less bad for purchasing from Steam since version version 15.
This is not a small company that can plead poverty any more

Also, as we saw before. The licensing company they use can go out of business.
If Steam/Valve go out of business then the entire video game industry has probably collapsed.

I'm buying on Steam this year for the first time since v17 I believe. Updating manually seems to have gotten more tedious the last couple of versions, with more frequent patches and hotfixes, then patches to those hotfixes that I just will Steam handle it now.

That's an interesting tidbit. Good to see a business arrangement that can be seen as a win/win for all parties.

I buy through the webstore but steam workshop is always something I greatly miss due to the convenience of it. Doesn't look like it's been activated yet on steam.

OTOH, patches are always (?mostly at least) released first for the direct version. I don't really know anything about Steam, but that's why I've never bothered to look into it. Plus I always assumed the gang got more from direct purchases, and I guess I guessed right.

To best honest, by the time I see an announcement for a game update, 95% of the time by the time I look at my Steam download list, OOTP has already updated itself.
They seem to get updates out quickly.

used to buy direct - but due to patch sizes - i found steam updates are less massive (and that's a boon to my monthly limits). And the game runs as smoothly as the standalone version. i've just gotten used to Steam so that's how i get it. Been around since 14, and Steam since 17. All is good.
