Best Online Leagues: Vote Here!

Decided to use the polls here, even though they don't allow more than 10 choices.

Vote for your favorite leagues. You may vote for more than one.

True, but I needed to squeeze every nomination I got in there and as it is I had to leave some out.

Just post any of the "other" votes in the thread.

"Vost Here" - sorry guys, that's sixfour210ian for Vote Here

Dang, I was trying to correct it before anyone could crack on me! Turns out you can't change the title once you post. Oh well.

You received 2 nominations for Shiba, including one nomination from someone who's not even in the league, and it doesn't make the list? Strange process.

What we need is multiple polls and then you would take the winner from each poll.

10 choices could never really do justice...... There are so many great leagues out there, and many of them don't hang around these boards a lot, so they don't get recognized. You wanna make a real impression so new comers can find the best possible leagues? start listing leagues like these:

NBSL

Baseball Maelstrom

DBLC

PLB

NBL

IABL

ILBL

S3BL

ASBL

WBL

Many, Many more I am sure, this is just scratching the surface.

The leagues Karen listed, along with the leagues listed in the poll, are an excellent start for anyone who's new to the community.

Check my sig, too. (Not trying to self promote, but the MBBA, FIBB, and ORB are three DAMN fine leagues).

I don't know that voting on best leagues is ever a good idea. You'll always leave someone out, people are slighted, and it doesn't really accomplish much.

I know what you're trying to do, it's been tried many times before.

Thing is, there are a LOT of great leagues out there, way more than 10. Each has their own niche in the community. Some people might like a nice quiet historical league, some might like an obnoxious league, some might like a riduculously active forum based fictional league. Who can account for all that?

If you're looking for some opinions, just start a thread and have everyone list out the leagues that really "work" for them, and tell us why.

Just my $.02, no offense intended at all.

Well newcomers should use this thread as a starting point then. Maybe contact a few people in these leagues and find out which leagues are worthwhile.

I know 10 leagues isn't enough that's why I suggested that someone start a website with the top 50 or 100 leagues as voted on by viewers of the website. This would help a great deal, I think.

this is a blind mans post,

the MBBA's not on there, and even the place that has an effigy of me burning 24/7 FOBL should be on this list.

If a newcomer can find a spot in any of those leagues, more power to them......

I don't see how a poll could turn out to be anything more than a popularity contest. As long as a leagues commisioner is fair, honest, and consistant, which I think most of them are, it pretty much comes down to what type of league you like. Some people want an active board, some people want alot of trades and some people are just looking to export a roster and not be bothered. I really think most of the leagues I come across on this board are very good anymore and the ones that aren't are far and few between, and after a small amount of research are easily identified.

Then the website could very well breakdown the leagues into those categories you listed.

I am simply offering up suggestions so people can get a list of well-run leagues without doing too much looking around.

I take it no one is interested in the idea so I'll step away. I no longer endorse the thread or the idea. Harassment seems the best way to sift out the bad leagues around here so why think of a way to change that.

Dude, now you're getting defensive and that's not the intent of what I'm trying to get across; nor is clarnzz.

You have the right idea in discussing these things, but clarnzz is right in that a poll will just be a popularity contest, and a poorly informed one at that.

For example, having never been in the NAHHBL (for example), I can only go off of brief things I've read, and the fact that I know it's Commish.

Having been around for a while, and fairly active in the OOTP Community, I do know most of the leagues listed and many of the Commissioners. But, there are leagues on that list I have never heard of and cannot make a judgement on. For all I know, they might be the best leagues out there!

You have to explore...read a lot of posts, get to know some people who have been around. They will help steer you in the right direction (last post goes out to ALL newbies). I, for one, am more than willing to take some time every now and then to talk with newcomers and try to help you out.
