Team Draft Region
There's a new setting called "Team Draft Region" in the teams settings. I can't find a breakdown of what it does -- can someone fill me in?

From the release notes:
-------- - Added regional draft option *Teams can be assigned to draft from specific regions, and there can be one or more rounds at the start of the draft where teams must select from those regions ------- So each team has an optional setting (and I believe there's a page that shows all teams together), and then in League Settings you can choose to have x number of regional rounds at the start of a draft, where each team either has exclusive rights to players from their draft region, or is simply limited to a certain area. Finally in the World section (I think) there is a Regions page, and you can create your own custom regions if the area you want isn't already a preset (individual countries in Europe, for example).

My understanding of this is the team can be encouraged to draft players from a certain region or if that is not available, team nationality, for a number of rounds in the draft. If this is the case, I will be elated.
I had requested something like this several years ago although my idea was as an AI setting slider. This is probably much less time intensive from a coding perspective. Previously if you were playing in a multi-nation league with strict foreign player limits, the only way to force teams to pick players from their nation in the draft was to allow no-foreign players. That of course is far from an ideal option if you do want some foreign players allowed. So my hope is now you can semi "force" a team like the Jays to prioritise players from Canada in certain rounds of the draft. |

Wonder what happens if a player is not available from that region. I really like the idea of it, but at the same time it makes the draft log lose some emphasis when looking back. I’ve created a test fictional league I’m going to try it with and see how it goes.
A separate regional draft prior to the actual draft I would have used frequently in my fictional league. Not sure about this one yet until I see or hear more about it...I still like when these options get added giving us fictional players more variety.

Awesome, thank y'all for your help!
Does the "Team Region" box above that make a difference anywhere? I always assumed it went by the selected city.

Is there a way to customize the percentage of players from each region? It appears that is still only customizable at the Nation level, but it would really be great if we could use Regions with the player creation options.

You could edit your schools.xml file. each school has a freq value. You could edit all of those by region.
