Base Potential Ratings On...

I'm setting up an historical league which starts in 1969. During set up there is the option to Base Potential Ratings On...

1. Career Totals
2. Remaining Years of Career
3. Peak Seasons of Career
4. Remaining Peak Seasons

Which of these options do you all suggest I select?

Thanks!
Mark

For historical games I use 5yr recalc, I turn off player development, and I enable retire according to history. When I do this the potential ratings really do not make any difference because the player current ratings will always be based on their actual statistics from those seasons. I select the second option though, remaining years of career, since that tells you if they will be improving or declining.

Thanks Garlon. I never thought of this combination. I like it. Retire according to history won't work with random debut, but I will turn off player development and move to recalc. Next time I do a straight up historical league I will use this combo. I agree, and use remaining seasons of career always. I also recommend it. After making your settings, I suggest going back to the global settings and doing a full rescouting.

With recalc and player development disabled you may as well turn off scouting too as a convenience since you have the player historical stats available too.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I do prefer to use the option to base the ratings on the game's development engine. I like the uncertainty.

Well, there is one certainty to using only development: Historical late bloomers will never bloom.
