As a life-long Oriole fan I also find myself rooting for da' Mets. Here in Buffalo we had the Met's AAA team here for a few years. Really enjoyed them. Now we get Mets games on SNY and Yanks games as well. NO Jays games even though they are very close.
We were able to follow Bisons advance to the Big Apple.
In 2019 we made the drive from Buffalo to NYC twice. A 2 game subway series. Then next day we drove to Pittsburgh for a Pirates game and my kids met us there for the game. Mid September we made the drive again for 2 games against the Marlins. Alonso hit his 51st. the 2nd. game.

Well,for starters, a 'second GM' hasn't been hired.
As I understand, Sandy Alderson is going to continue to run the baseball ops for this season.The same Sandy Alderson who returned to the Mets on Day 1 of the Steve Cohen ownership.
The Porter signing was unfortunate but his dismissal came within 24 hours of "issues" coming to light. Prompt, decisive action by....Steve Cohen.
The more important question is who knew what for how long. The "issues' date back to when Porter was working for the Cubs 5 years ago and he's since been gainfully employed by the D-Backs for 4 years.
But nothing came to light until after he was hired by the Mets.
Why is that?
I love how executives, with stuff hidden in the closet, are hired these days and their new employer "should have known" about something that was obviously swept under the rug five years ago.
But the Cubs gonna Cubs, I guess.

Marge was definitely a mixed bag, as an owner. She was willing to spend some money and brought a Championship. She also never understood the pint of anyone who wasn't on the field playing, so she destroyed an excellent scouting system. I think nationally, she drew a lot of fire largely based on her being a) a woman; and b) not being from a baseball background. A lot of owners have teams as a big toy, but Marge always seemed more honest about it and didn't pretend.

She said some stupid and offensive things and deserved her suspension, but the league was a bit over the top in the way they handled it. She got a reprimand for coming into the locker room and wishing the players a good season. At the same time, George Steinbrenner was under a lifetime suspension for hiring a gambler to blackmail a former player and he was still involved in contract negotiations.
