Too much injuries or normal?

Hello,

I'm playing this save in Challenge Mode and this is my first save I'm playing with injuries on.

Now I have this situation, where I have all these "new toys" yet they are all broken.

Name: challenge_mode_la_2023-06-28_17-56-25.jpg
Views: 673
Size: 58.1 KB

The injury settings are "Normal (OOTP Classic)" and my team trainer is:

Name: challenge_mode_la_2023-06-28_17-56-54.jpg
Views: 638
Size: 120.5 KB

I also get a few messages, that the recovery isn't going as planned and the injured player needs more time.

Is this all just normal or can I look somewhere else to maybe get a better control of the situation? Am I mistaken that the trainer is "good"?

Any answers are appreciated, thank you.

How could anyone possibly know without knowing about injuries for the rest of the league.

It's probably normal, though.
Just bad luck for your team

That's why I'm asking in the "new to the game" section.

OK, so this is an idea to look at, how the rest of the league is doing. Thank you for the tip.

I checked, most teams have 2-3, the occasional 5 injuries are also there. I have the most with 7.

Oh well, then it's just bad luck. Would anyone change the Trainer or not?

There are probably better ones

But this one is ok

It's not like a different trainer would have meant 0 injuries

I've seen that sort of injury list a lot. Seems typical to me.

You'll have some adjustments to make now that you're playing injuries on. I try to have seven pitchers with the stamina to start. If I take eight to spring training I don't mind. But you have to be able to send down the excess which means if you have option years enabled then there's more planning to do.

I can't comment further on roster strategy because you're playing modern baseball and I rarely play as late as 2000.

Good advice

Look at real teams. They usually have 7,8,9,10 players who start games. Not just bad teams. Most teams

That assumes AI controlled teams have the same injury rate as human controlled teams. Is that true? I assume AI gets a little help somewhere - its normal game design practice - and the injury rate would be a good place.

Thank you! Yes, I am getting to know these things a lot more. Here and there I get surprised by the option years (and I can't send him down) but for the most part I have an eye on the option years and I try to leave one or two spots open on the 40-man roster to be flexible. (I don't know if that is the right approach but in my mind it is.)

And I have a really good system for having zero injuries for my starters in the pre-season: I bench all of them for the duration of the pre-season, call up my complete AAA team and filling the rest of the spots with some AA players.
The starters aren't even starting the season bad for not playing in the spring.
So all the mandatory injuries in the pre season go to my minor league players. Oops.

The AI "purchasing contracts" at the end or beginning of the new season from my minor league teams and putting them on my 40-man roster still surprises me but bit by bit I'm getting the hang of it.

I'll probably start another Detroit save in a few weeks and try to rescue this team.

Don't do this

Pitcher injury chance is influenced by the following factors:
Past usage (Pitcher Abuse Points (PAPs) - a system developed by Baseball Prospectus)
Rust (i.e. after an injury or at the start of spring training

Spring training serves as a warm up for the season.

Thank you CBeisbol. This shows once again, I have an idea in my mind and it doesn't play out as I think it will...

Do someone know how to take a look at these Pitcher Abuse Points (PAP) in OOTP? (we see these stats on Statplus, but not in OOTP, as I can find for now!)
