Avoiding Injuries

Is there anything you can do to avoid / minimize injury other than not signing a lot of fragile players? I have a trainer with a great reputation. Is there anything else you can do?

Not to be flippant, but the only thing you can is never play a guy. Injuries happen, they are part of playing sports, the probability of a player getting hurt in some way while playing is near 100% if his career lasts for any length. Even guys who had long streaks of games played had to play through pain to make that happen. Make sure you have a strong bench or AAA team so you have guys who can fill in without the team losing too much productivity.

I’ve personally set my league to one tick below default injury frequency, and that feels about right. 40% of my starting 5 and two of my lineup’s regulars are currently on long stints on the DL, and I still get myriad d2d injuries throughout my system.

I did this less because I have a problem with players getting hurt, and more because ESPECIALLY once short season leagues come online, managing injuries just become untenable for me personally.

I don’t believe the setting I’ve chosen affects injury severity, and the number on injuries is still pretty realistic (I think), so I’d recommend giving that a try too.
