Obnoxious Contract Asks/Keeping Financials Realistic
What’s the best way to get salaries to work where all “really good” players aren’t asking for $40-$50mil/season? I tried to put on a salary cap, but players still ask for it and it just screws over teams. I’ve also tried to change the “projected pay” for different types of stars... and it doesn’t seem to function properly.
I’ve also had it where I offer a player significantly less than his ask, he hates it, but then signs with another team for cheaper anyway. |

I’ve had similar issues.
Sometimes they come down a little bit...but, not a lot

Financials are simply a mess. The whole system needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

In one of my online leagues, as well as the occasional solo league that I start, we often see guys asking for like 7/$110M in an extension only to see them get like 1/$5M in free agency near the end of Spring Training or during the first month of the season. We are using a mid-90s financial system with an $85M salary cap. The best teams are usually near the cap each year but we have like half the teams running payroll at 30-60% of the cap. I think that makes the players think that there's money out there to meet their demands.
