English as a 1st Language...UGH!
Help me out once and for all. Is it wildcard or wild card? I know I'm a tool, but this has been driving me nuts forever.

I love it.
![]() Well, according to Webster it would be Wild Card as two words with the definition of being used for sports playoffs, random events in situations, or playing card games (i.e., "the joker is wild"). When combined into a single word "Wildcard" the definition is that of the use in database searches for an unknown character (i.e., using a "*" symbol as a wildcard to represent the unknown character). So for all the playoff usage it should be written as two words: Wild Card. Hope this helps. |
