OOTP Crashes on First League

Hello all,

Just a day or so ago I purchased OOTP over the net and patched it up to the current version. When I try to create my first league, be it Standard, or Custom, etc., when I go to generate the league, I get a Visual C++ Runtime error "Program: C:\OOTP\OOTP5.EXE abnormal program termination." When I look in the directory, the xxx.lg directory is created, but it's empty. Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

I need as much system info as you can give, also have you deleted any files?

I run Windows ME on a Pentium II PC system. 64 MB of RAM. Over 1 GB free on the drive that OOTP is installed on. STB Velocity 128 video card. No antivirus programs running. Also, I turned off Direct 3D and Sound in the Game Configuration display. I have not deleted any files, although I did place in the new OOTP5.EXE when I applied the patch (I backed up the older .exe file and I get the same error if I run that).

You also need DirectX 9 installed, you an find it at http://www.microsoft.com

Also, due to the fact you are running ME(not a good OS) and have such a small amount of RAM you will need to not be running anything extra while trying to play the game.

Hm, I went and made sure I had the most current version of DirectX (9.0) installed. Tried to run OOTP again after the reboot and made sure to close as many other programs as possible. Loaded relatively quickly, but once I click Generate League for Standard League, the VC++ error comes up almost immediately.

Video drivers up to date?

I checked and I have the most current video drivers installed. I also did a bit more playing with it. If I try a Custom League, i'll see the dialog box saying "Creating League", a few seconds later, when "Saving League" comes up, then the error message comes up.

You might try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Excellent, I will try that. Although, how I do I enter my license into a reinstalled version, without purchasing it again obviously?
