Historical Expansion?

I was trying to do a historical run with the Atlanta Thrashers but I don't know how to get to the expansion draft. I knew how to do it in FHM 5 but haven't played in awhile so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Just start the game in 1998 and the game will hold the draft in July of the following season.

That's what I thought but I have tried multiple times and all I get is Draft Lottery on July 2nd then Draft on July 3rd then HOF on Aug 1.

So I just tried myself, and it worked fine. Are you perhaps skipping over the events by mistake? What shows up in the bottom Right TASKS menu?

July 1 Task says I can view the draft now. Click on Events and all it shows is Draft Lottery and then the Draft. I am sure it's something I am doing wrong I just don't know what it is.

So you started a Historical Game in 1998. You didn't do anything (other than maybe turned on Do Not Disturb Mode) and simmed to July 1st, 1999. You then went Manager > Take Over Team ?

If you use the drop down box of PLAY, what do you see? I was on July 1st, saw Expansion Protection Lists due, put in a few FA offers, then on July 2nd picked my team, July 3rd NHL Entry draft, etc.

Ah Ok I think I finally figured it out. I believe I had Historical Editing on which I thought I tried it both ways but I guess not. So this seems to have fixed the issue. Figured it was something small I was doing but just took a minute to figure out. Thanks for the help.
