OOTP review
I have not yet reviewed OOTP on steam yet, even though it tells me I've been playing it for over 1500 hours. I still feel like I'm evaluating...
I purchased OOTP in June 2020. I had never heard of OOTP up to that point. In the past I had purchased many copies of Baseball Mogul, and the only reason I switch to OOTP was because it had linux support - I had enough of my issues with Windows 10. For the most part I have been very happy with my purchase. Since my favourite thing to do is play with historical teams & players, it is a great for that. To do a comparison of OOTP to Baseball Mogul with this feature, adding players / teams is much easier with OOTP - Baseball Mogul actually introduced a quirk in the 2017 version. With OOTP like Baseball Mogul, I still run into players that I feel are vastly underrated in the game and don't tend to perform as well as what they did historically. So I'm not disappointed with that, just continue to be frustrated. Obviously, being a long time user of any program, I have comparisons to what I am used to. What I find missing in OOTP that I used extensively in BM is historical statistics. I can look at each season I've played and see batting and pitching similar to what you would see on Baseball-Reference. Maybe I'm completely missing something, but I don't see that. I can also see year-by-year leaders, etc. I do like that OOTP occasionally pops up the active leader for a batting or pitching category - I'd like to see a link to that info so I can see who the active leaders are for each category - or even the top 10/50/100 of all-time leaders. I have suggested this application to several people - so I do not take my "criticisms" as not appreciating the game. |

Another feature in the competition that I liked as opposed to how OOTP does it - expansion - relocation - at the end of the season it asks - " would you like to... relocate/expand/rename". I would like that added as an option "ask" - as opposed to "yes' or "no" at the start of a new game.
I like the way OOTB chose to implement the addition of an expansion. I tried out that feature a number of times. |
