McDavid and Mackinnon issues

I’m currently playing through my first save and I’ve noticed issues regarding arguably the two best players in the NHL today. Both Mackinnon and Mcdavid have entered free agency and have remained free agents for over a whole season in Mackinnon’s case and 3 months in McDavid’s case before both signed 5 million dollar deals for 5 years. I’m guessing that this is due to both players demanding 15 million dollars per season for their extension and contract at the beginning. I don’t know if this is an issue or realistic.

I had a similar situation in which Barzal and Dubois both signed in the KHL for $2M and then returned to the NHL as UFAs for the same paltry sums. I loved it, but it wasn't realistic.

Similar issue in my game. Mackinnon wanted 13 million, I offered him 12 million he said no, 1 day later he signed for Boston for 6 years at 4.5million.
