Historical League Set Up - Free Agent Issues

Every time I try to create a 1945 historical league I have free agents. Such as Ted Williams, Pee Wee Reese, Joe DiMaggio, Enos Slaughter, etc.

I want to begin the year with all these great talented ball players on their respective team...not as free agents.

Amateur draft has been turn off.

What am I doing that is causing this?

I think the issue is, you're starting in 1945 and all those players missed the 1945 season due to the war. If you start in 1946, those players will be on their appropriate teams.

You can also pretend they aren't on war duty and you can simply assign them to the teams they would have played for during 1945. But to be consistent, you would want to do that for all free agents who were serving in the military and not just the stars like Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio.
