Playoff Matchups Incorrect
I imported my FHM 6 save (custom league) into FHM 7. I played a season, got to the Playoffs, but all the matchups are wrong. I am attaching a screenshot of the final standings (Divisional), and the Playoff Tree. Each Conference has 2 divisions, each Division winners should be the 1 & 2 seed, with the remaining 6 teams in each conference getting the the 3 through 8 seed. It worked fine in FHM 6. I never checked the League Rules before I started in FHM 7 to see if something changed. I can't get to the rules now (its greyed out - can't click to see the rules). I don't know if this is an import issue or something else.

I can report the same thing. I imported my FHM6 save into 7 and my playoff matchups are all wrong. I have 2 conferences with 2 divisions in each. The division winners are supposed to have the top 2 seeds in each conf with the next 6 best records occupying the remaining spots. In FHM 6, this setup was listed as "16 Teams, 8 per Conference" in the leauge edit screen. When I import this into FHM7 it is shown as "16 Teams, 8 per Conf (NHL 1999-2013)".
I guess if my league setup was the same as the NHL from 1999-2013 (2 Conferences, 3 Divisions, with the division winners occupying the top 3 seeds) perhaps all would be well. Is there anything I can do to fix this? On the league edit screen on July 1, I tried to pick "Custom" as my playoff format, but it didn't give me any options other than that (no # of teams making the playoffs or anything). I noticed that the KHL has a 16 team playoff setup, but upon researching that I found there are no divisions in their conferences. What to do??? |

We made a few changes with the editable playoff options just before release, something may have been changed after the importer, another late addition, was built, and that's broken the conversion. I'll find out if there's a way to change it back; at the moment the only option I can think of would be switching to a divisional/conference format that matches the one it seems to be expecting, but there may be a better way.

Well, I wasn't able to totally fix it, but I did make it better. What I did was go back to my save after I had initially imported it . I opened that file and since it was on July 1 I was able to change the playoff format to NHL playoffs ( I forget how it's named, but the format the NHL has been using until the Covid playoffs last year). I then copied the tournaments.dat file from that save and pasted it into my current save (which was on October 11). This seemed to work as I simmed to the playoffs in a test and it worked as intended.

Jeff,
FYI, I created a new custom test league using the same playoff format as before (16 Teams, 8 per conf NHL 1999-2013). The first round playoff matchups were just as wonky with what should have been non-playoff teams in the playoffs, and teams from Conf 2 playing teams from Conf1 in the first round. Try it for yourself when you have time. I chose 26 teams, 2 confs, 4 divisions, 82 games, and (16 Teams, 8 per conf NHL 1999-2013) playoffs. The rest I left as default. I am surmising that this issue is not Import related, but playoff format related instead. |
