2D Engine Discussion/Questions/Suggestions A single forum for posts about the new 2D match engine. so we can keep that better-organized. Bug reports should still go in the regular Technical Support/Bug Reports forum, but if you're not sure if something is a bug, either forum is fine.

2D Engine v FHM6 Engine

Does the new engine give a more accurate simulation?

If the rink is divided up into far more areas compared with the "old" engine does this mean that players position themselves more accurately, are passes/shots more precise etc. I appreciate that this may be at the cost of more CPU cycles and more memory but if it gives a truer simulation then maybe its worth it.

Both have their strengths and weaknesses - old one is doing better with scoring for individual players right now, new one is better at penalties and fighting. Both tend to get the overall league-wide totals right for most stats. As we keep working on the 2D engine, it should eventually pass the old one in all categories.
