How to create a NHL league using fictional players?

In a custom (or Standard) game is there any way to start with fictional players?

Starting a Custom game I chose the option 'NHL+AHL+CHL' but that gave me real players.
Starting a Custom game I then used a Fictional league setup (Major League) but the teams created were not NHL cities and names. So I would have to change all the names, arenas etc. to NHL teams, cities, arenas etc. to create a NHL-type league.

So is there any way to create a league using the NHL real team names but using game-created fictional players, without going through the process of changing each individual team name, city, arena etc.?

Is there any way to use the 'Standard' game option and use game-created fictional players?

It's been added back in the new update, there are a couple of additional options on the custom start screen.
