Why a 2 Sub-League Limit?

Is there any particular reason why there is a limit of 2 sub-leagues when creating a new ootp universe? I can't seem to figure out a logic reason on my own.

How do people create these enormous ootp universes with like 20 leagues and 350 total teams?

I wish that there could be more subleagues in a single league, too.

The other option is to create a League Association (under the "Game" menu in OOTP). It has its limits, especially when it comes to historical association stats and playoffs results. It is something I have used in multiple dynasties, but it hasn't improved in many years. I recently scrapped it in my current Fallout dynasty because a few things were off, like playoff stories and draft orders, from what I wanted.

If I recall correctly, it is limited due to the way the code was written back when they did the massive rewrite in version 6.5 and if they wanted to change it to allow more than two, it would basically be a total rewrite of a huge part of the game......and those of us that were around for the change from 6 to 6.5....it was not a fun time. So basic answer is, the code does not allow for it.

i'd like Associations to be improved. that could help solve this issue a bit, i think. i mean, it works for the basics, but could be improved as StLee mentioned above.

+2 for improvements to Associations. So much potential.

Can you schedule regular season games between associations that count into each league's season record?

i don't think you can have an associated league play a regular league, but i can't say i ever tried to do that - so my answer isn't definitive.. Last time i used an association, you could only have both reg. and association use same draft pool, FA pool, make trades between leagues and have a championship series after both regular game and association had their championship series.
after 3 seasons of the association, i merged those teams into the regular MLB leagues by making a 3rd division in the NL and AL leagues.

the association has huge potential and maybe i just never learned how to use it to the fullest, but it seems there is room for development still or a need for great explanation how to use them.

To answer your question directly, they are simply creating 20 separate leagues.

If you're wanting to create an NCAA setup for example, you'd want just one subleague (which serves as the NCAA), and each college conference would be a division. I believe you can create up to 50 divisions.

IMO, the reason subleagues are a thing, was because it happened before associations were added to the game. The AL and NL really should be two separate leagues, though maybe not so much any more, that are under the MLB association.
