Barzal not interested in negotiations

I just started a standard game as my favorite team, the New York Islanders. Obviously, I tried signing Barzal as he is still an RFA. However, He is angry and not interested in further negotiations from the get go. I can’t do anything to sign him. Is there anything I can do?

Change to commissioner mode and assign him to your team with a FAIR contract?

I ran into the same thing. I ended up just starting the game over in commish mode and forcing him to sign. If FHM 7 free agents are anything like the ones in FHM 6 then I was assuming I wouldn't even get a chance to match an offer for him because he would sign with a KHL team. Hopefully they change his initial negotiating mood in a future update because I don't think it reflects real life at all.

Same problem with any unsigned RFA actually - just sim a few days and they'll want to restart negotiations.

Barzal is by all accounts he is up and down on his happiness in playing in Trotz's system anyway. But this. He will eventually negotiate.
