Does a demotion hurt development?

I have two hitters that are 22 and 24, doing very well in the majors, but as it turns out I have some late bloomers (both 26) in my system that needs MLB playing time to show what they have. I think that they can give me the same level of production as the two youngsters.

From a service time perspective, I think it’s best to send the young guys to AAA, but would that hurt their development? Obviously the best scenario is to trade the older players but I’m not getting the offers I want bc they haven’t shown their talent in the majors yet (online league).

Playing at the wrong level hurts development

Being sent back to the minors when playing well in the majors might hurt morale, which can also hurt development

If you think the two late bloomers can replicate the youngsters' production, then keep them and trade the more valuable youngsters

Trade the late bloomers for more prospects or a starter that you can use. Don’t mess with your current success.

If you’re not getting the offers you want, chances are you are overrating your player. Try fitting them in a package deal.

That makes sense... pretty much what I thought. Was able to package 3 young hitters for 1 of the best young hitters in the game, along with a good SP and a terrific prospect, so nobody is getting demoted!

Well done. Making trades is one of the most fun part of the game, boom or bust.
