Service time clock

I have a weird situation. In an online league, I have a 26 year old 2B with a very high ceiling but just never seemed to develop. Then I traded for a 21 year old 2B that just exploded out of nowhere. He is now 22 and already has 3 WAR on June 10th, he is leading the rookie of the year race by a mile. But then my 26 year old 2B in AAA just started developing (late bloomer) and he looks like he could be just as good.

I tried to trade one of them but just not finding the return I’m looking for. My question is should I send down the 22 year old to stop his service time and let the league see what the 26 year old can do? Someone told me his service time clock won’t stop if I send him down, and not sure if that’s true.

In OOTP, each player accumulates three types of service time:

Professional service time
Major league service time
Time on the secondary roster (only available if you have minor leagues)

Taking the player off the major league roster will stop them from accruing major league service time, it will not stop them from accruing the other two types
