Invalid Rosters in Minor Leagues?

Hi,

Not entirely sure if this is a bug because I'm new to OOTP games, but I'm also not sure where to post for technical support! First off, I unfortunately can't post my league file because the link describing how to do it seems to be broken. Essentially what's happening is that on MiLB opening day, I keep trying to progress to the next day in my MLB season and I keep getting a popup telling me games could not be started due to invalid rosters. Sometimes, it prompts me to turn on ghost players.

The issue is, I've turned on ghost players in every league as well as filled up teams with fictional players in order to fix rosters, and I'm still getting the popup with different teams each time. Each roster I check manually seems to be entirely full. The continue button says that I'm able to autoplay to my next game, but whenever I click it, nothing happens. Let me know if I can provide any more information, or if this is just a setting I don't have checked - any help would be appreciated!

Update - I spammed "Finish Today!" and it let me through, but it seems to force me to sit through around a dozen "Invalid Roster" pop-ups every time I want to progress a day in advance. Hopefully this new information helps!

We had another league with a similar sounding problem we were looking at today. It may be this is the same issue.

Could you send us your files so we can check on them, as per the instructions in my sig? A Dropbox or Google Drive link to them would be fine too.

I think you were referring to me about the other league. I had the college feeder lieague that had multilple teams that would go over reserve roster. Here is a link to my save file:

Hopefully this works! It resolved itself eventually and I forgot about it, but starting up a new season it's back again. Let me know if I didn't get the correct files or if you need anything else!

Hi everyone. I bought OOTP 21 a couple of days ago and have been enjoying it thus far. I did apparently run into the same issue that Butterhero described in this thread regarding invalid minor league rosters and the game advising me to turn on ghost players as it is preventing me from moving past the first couple of weeks of the April 1986 season. I have the ghost players box checked and also tried filling teams with fictional players, but I still get the same error message regarding incomplete minor league rosters for teams that are computer controlled.

Is there an easy fix for this?

I uploaded the league file (Scott Try 1) to OOTP Developments per instructions.

Sorry that's ahppening!

Which patch are you on? If you're not on the most recent, you'll definitely want to update as I think we fixed a couple things that might've caused this along the way.

If you are on the most recent patch, then just let us know and we'll go from there.

My game says I am using Version 21.6, Build 83. Is that the most recent?

So what's most likely causing this is probably one of the league rule that limits players by nationality or age, service time etc.

Did you change any of that or are you playing with the defaults?

When I setup the league, I think I did use at least one non-default. It might have been nationality, but I don't remember which one. Sorry but I don't see those choices to verify them in the current league rules menu.

If I need to redo the historical sim, I just started it, so no worries on my end, but should I just use all defaults for player limits next time?

It's safest that way. If you do use nationality for instance, then you also need to make sure there are enough players coming into the league (or already in the league) from that nationality from one source or another. The game will not automatically do that.

Thanks, as your fix worked--it must have been a roster restriction that I selected on setup. I started another league and have played through 3 seasons with no issues.
