At least somebody is feeling the "pack love"...I've ripped 75 packs so far this week with one Diamond.

With that said, I was running pretty hot prior to that so don't feel TOO bad for me!!

Happy for you. That is a great draw. I've had a few good packs witgh some great cards. I don't mind not hitting a treasure trove in each pack, but I do mind when you open a pack and get 6 guys that at best can sell for 5 pts each. I only bought one pack for points very early on, and while it was a pretty good pack, I have since opened tons of loser packs won in tournaments, many with little or no value, and quite a few with 2 of the same players bad card in it. The lesson I've learned is that I'll never buy another pack... just not wortth it. I guess it would be OK to open a pack you spent 1000 pts on and get some cards that you could possibly parlay into 250 to 500 pts, but 30 pts???? Why take the risk?

One week later I can report they still are ICE COLD!!

50 packs opened an one Diamond Live card and a couple gold live. It's no wonder there is hardly ANYTHING available on the auction house for diamond historical cards.

I'll be opening up another 50 or so later today probably but man we need an injection of higher end cards into the market when we are about 2 months into the offseason. That or at least bumping up the tournament pack rewards now that we are in December.

On average you only get one diamond out of 30 packs. Getting "just one" in 40 or 50 packs is pretty much right at expectation.

Everyone knows that the equity returned in packs is heavily weighted from the few very high priced cards, and you need to open hundreds to thousands before a few of those trickle in unless you get quite lucky. PT21 is still better than PT20 for packs since there are more historicals still worth something, you would probably go infinite in the long run if you took the time to sell all historical golds+

I definitely know the odds are stacked against us on a standard pack in terms of getting good cards. But I just opened up another 50 plus packs from tourney winnings and while I got some decent returns with a couple diamonds and 7 or 8 golds...they were all live cards again. Talk about terrible luck, I don't think I ever opened so many packs without at least one gold historical card. On the very last pack (which was a gold pack), I did get a non-live Future legend gold card, but I think that was just out of random spite from the card generation gonkulator.

For the first few months, a hundred packs would normally return a profit. for the last 2-3, it's normally a loss. Obviously that figures when you consider that some cards are worth as little as 10% of what they once were. But, it would be cool if odds could evolve a bit to reflect the dropping market. I know it's tough balancing economics with gameplay, but it's frustrating having pack ripping gradually becoming less rewarding.

I've definitely been consistently getting more live silvers recently, so the Devs can clearly tweak things if they see fit

Indeed, it just feels like something is off. Especially in terms of the historical cards rated 80 and above. They are not generating enough of them to even make the auction house useful. There a some missions I wouldn't mind pursuing but the historical cards are nowhere to be found most of the time. Maybe a half price X-mas sale on Historical packs to boost the inventory a bit. I'd drop 5K on historical packs, but 10K, especially as we head into the months between OOTP 21 and before OOTP 22's release in the Spring is just too tall an order for the return at this point.

I'm gonna abandon my packs team soon because it's become a pretty fruitless endeavor. Haven't pulled an upgrade in about 5 weeks (400 packs of absolute tripe just on Sunday), so they're sliding backwards towards Gold obscurity. I don't want to grind packs just so I can seed the AH for others . Anyway, I'm taking such big losses on the packs I'm ripping that it won't take long to burn through the remaining 'assets' I have. C'est la vis, it's been an interesting experiment .
