The Orlando Juice are here to play a 4 game series through the weekend. They just split a pair of games in Louisville. We are 8-2 against them on the season and won 2 of 3 games the first time they visited, June 4-6. They are 4th in scoring with 4.38 runs per game (Jacksonville is #3 with 4.44). We have scored 13 more runs than they have, but have played one more game. The Juice are 9th in fewest runs allowed with 3.99 per game (Jacksonville is #1 with 3.19). Their run differential is +59, 4th best in the MLB, and ours is +190, still the best.

Orlando Juice (76-75 .503 27.5 GB tied for 3rd place in the Southern Division) at
Jacksonville Jays (104-48 .684 20.5 GA in 1st place in the Southern Division)

Bottom of the First
Charlie Faber flies out to deep center. Tommy Adams grounds out to 2nd. Cal Doty swings at a 3-2 pitch and grounds out to short....

PH Don Kern (27-R), who will stay in to catch, grounds a hit to right and Daw scores! 5 to 0, Jays! Cal Doty lines a hit to right and Thompson scores! 6 to 0, Jays!

Won - 6 to 0

We finish the season series with Memphis 9-5.
Our best record ever against them!
We were 8-6 last year and a combined 9-19 in 2001-02.

We had 12 hits and made no errors
Memphis had 7 hits (all singles) and made no errors

Jim Baucom (W 27-3) pitched 9 shutout innings (CG), allowed 7 hits, 1 walk and struck out 10. 128 pitches. His 9th shutout of the season and 18th of his career, both MLB records! This is a season that will be hard to top!

1B Jack Washburn (22-L) has been cleared to play by Trudy the Trainer, so he was activated from the DL. RF Phil Moore (23-R) was sent back to Daytona's (A) roster to make room.

We are in Louisville to finish the regular season with a 3 game series against the Colonels. They just split 4 games in Birmingham. We are 8-3 against them on the season and split a pair of games the last time we visited, June 30 - July 1. They are tied for 12th in scoring with 3.81 runs per game (Jacksonville is #3 with 4.37) We need to score 5 runs in the 3 games to make it to 700 runs on the season. Our previous high was 646 runs in 2002. We scored 640 last year. The Colonels are 5th in fewest runs allowed with 3.84 per game (Jacksonville is #1 with 3.17). Their run differential is -5 and ours is +191, 69 runs ahead of Syracuse for 1st in the MLB!

Jacksonville Jays (107-52 .673 20 GA in 1st place in the Southern Division) at
Louisville Colonels (80-79 .503 27 GB tied for 3rd place in the Southern Division)

LOU: Carlos Santiago (26-L) (15-14 2.61 ERA 248.2 IP, 201 H, 15 HR, 55 BB, 141 SO)

Marsh did not allow a run in 7 innings last time out in a win. He gave up 4 hits and 2 walks and struck out 4.

Santiago is 1-3 in 4 starts against the Jays this season, but had a Quality Start every time with a 2.03 ERA. 31 IP, 27 H, 1 HR, 7 BB, 20 SO.

Won - 4 to 2

Sweep!
110 wins!!

We finish the season series with Louisville 11-3!
Tied for the best record ever against a team in the South (Birmingham this year)!
We were 4-10 against them last year and this is the 1st time we have won the season series!

We had 6 hits and made 2 errors
Louisville had 7 hits and made 2 errors

Dale Gilchrist (W 11-10) went 6 innings, allowed 2 runs, 4 hits, 1 home run, no walks and struck out 4. At bat, he had a hit and finishes the season with a .446 BA! He should get a Silver Bat this year!
LHP Albert Davies (H 10) went 1 scoreless inning and allowed a hit.
RHP Bob Craig (H 3) pitched a perfect inning.
LHP Bill Grant (SV 23) pitched a scoreless 9th and allowed 2 hits.

Ken DeWaters (L 13-13) went 7 innings, gave us 4 runs, 4 hits, 1 home run, 3 walks and struck out 4.

We finish the season 63-35 (.643) against the South.
We were 47-17 (.734) against the North.
It is the first time we have had a winning season against either division.
Last year, we were exactly .500 against each.

We were 35-12 (.745) in 1-run games this season!
Even if we went 23-24, though, we still win the division by 10 games.

We were 29-16 (.644) against lefties this year, the best record in the MLB!
We had the most wins and fewest losses against both lefties and righties!

We had the best record in the MLB before the All-Star break (58-29 .667).
We had the best record in the MLB after the All-Star break (52-23 .693).

We end up with a +202 run differential!
Syracuse was 2nd best at +117.

We were 'only' 48-33 (.593) at home and went 62-19 (.765) on the road!
Wow!
We should offer to play all the games of the Millennial Cup in Syracuse!
We went 1-3 against the Sycamores at home and 4-0 in Syracuse.

There are no ties in the MLB. 1st tiebreaker is head to head record, 2nd is record within the division, 3rd is run differential, 4th is record versus the division champion and 5th is run differential in head to head games.

The tie between Louisville, Memphis and Orlando was broken by their head to head records. Louisville was 16-12, Orlando was 14-14 and Memphis was 12-16.
