Tandem Starting

Does anybody know if the game will allow for tandem starting in the big leagues? This is a strategy that a bunch of organizations employ throughout the minor leagues to help save the arms of their young pitchers.

In tandem starting, (and this would only work in OOTP, assuming you manage your games) you have two starting pitchers. Each pitcher is on a pitch count, so the 2nd starter actually comes in somewhat near the middle of the game.

I guess my question basically is, will a pitcher who throws 50 pitches (a starter), still require 5 days to rest?

I've not tried this, but from what I remember about SP and the pitch count option is that it worked fairly well. Pitcher usually comes with 10-12 pitches of his limit.

I think only Oakland used this in very low level minors. And Fuson brought it to Texas?

And in that system, pitchers still require long rests, don't they?

So if I throw a guy 50 pitches on Monday, will he require rest until Saturday? Or, will I be able to throw him again on Thursday for example?

I would suggest setting up a random league and testing the theory out. It probably depends at least somewhat on the pitcher's stamina rating. Guys with lower ratings tend to need a bit more rest.

San Diego uses it as well, to quite a bit of success (if you listen to Kevin Towers)

For the tandem starter system I know, it's four pair of tandem pitchers. I think OOTP can handle three day rests well. I am not sure about the starter switching to reliever part though.
