"Find top 20 prospect"
After completing a season above the owners expectations, several goals were issued. One of them being to find a top 20 prospect.
That request seems a little ambiguous. Does that mean an international player? Or is this a hint that some other organization has unwittingly released what will become a top 20 prospect when the annual list is published? Trading for that player doesn't seem like something that would accomplish the task either. The owner specifically asked for the elite talent to be found. Who else has had this requirement and how did you go about achieving it? The first impression is to change the scouting budget drastically to accommodate for more international players to be signed, but our scouts weakest area is international players. Hiring a different scout comes to mind, but it would be a shame to have to change scouts just to appease the owner. Any help with this is appreciated. |

I believe it means 'find' in the general sense. You can draft one, trade for one, have your scout discover one, etc.

That's an odd owner request. The most frustrating request I've had is to improve my team home runs. I focus on high OBP with high contact and avoid K ratings. This leads to less home runs being hit but I've been highly successful winning championships.
But the easiest way to check this box is to trade for one. The top 100 list comes out 3-4 times a year. Just look at the most recent one and trade for the player you like the most. |

I disabled owner goals because they would go against my team philosophy like that.
It would be nice if the owner offered 3 goals and you could choose one in case one of them really goes against how you prefer to run the organization.

Have any of you ever been fired when you have met at least one of the owner’s goals? I never have. I usually just ignore the stupid ones and make sure that I meet one of the other ones.

I've usually met one of them but the most annoying recurring one is "sign (already overpaid or mediocre guy I was planning to let walk) to a contract extension"
